Guy with SA on Letterman

The audience is the least of his problems. Put yourself in his shoes when he goes back hone and encounters his family, friends, relatives, workmates etc.

It did look like some sort of insecurity but not what I would consider classic social phobia. Not sure.

That was tough to watch.

I can see what Letterman thought he had to do -- he tried to make it "funny". When something could make the show awkward, he tries to save it with laughs. And I suppose to an audience who couldn't really see the guy's face, it seemed funny. Dave was working the crowd, being an entertainer, like he has to be.

But seeing the guy's fear and discomfort, it's clearly not funny. Poor guy.

i'm not trying to change anyone's mind or anything, but after watching it a few times, analyzing some stuff in it, and with prior knowledge of how those late shows work, this is my conclusion: the guy was just one of those small-time actors hired to play a small skit role on the show. you see them all the time on late shows. the lady afterwards though was just pre-screened as to what she would say; she was picked a head of time. they both have those shirt mics on them somwhere to give direct sound like that. in other words, it was all planned a head of time. if you don't believe me, after reading my post, watch it again assuming what i say is right, and you'll see all the little things that i can't even describe. just the way he acts, once you realize he's an actor it becomes obvious. you can tell, he's good at acting, but he does sterotypical shy person things that make it obvious he's trying too hard to take on the role of a shy person which makes it obvious he's acting. i'm sorry... i'm not 100% right, but it's my opinion. i feel sorry for him if it's real. :(

don't make it a bigger deal than it is.

I am not 100% sure if it is an actor or not, but Letterman has met and interviewed many thousands of people, and if it was real...he should be able to sense somebody being seriously uncomfortable and show some class by letting the fellow off. We don't know this ''shy'' person, he may not even be shy or a social phobic. He may actually be mentally slow and got intimidated by Letterman and the audience members laughter. Anyways, lets not add to this persons possible misery....he didnt explode and die on the spot, he went to a show i'm sure he wanted to attend, and life goes on. Those that know him personally should just tell him he looked great on tv and tell him that they wished they had the courage to sit up front and talk to a celebrity on live tv as well as he did. People should stop picking apart this guys ''15 minutes of fame'' and learn a lesson from it: be mature and show compassion and class in a similiar situation.

Can someone post a new link to the video?

And I know that Lettermen himself suffers from extreme shyness.
