That's not particularly gross.Menstrual blood odor is caused by anal bacteria (from feces) which feed on the blood cells and tissue (blood clots). The vagina is made into an alkaline environment by uterine secretions, blood and cells making it an ideal environment for fecal bacteria to thrive. Helpful bacteria create lactic acid in the vagina when a woman is not menstruating. Fecal bacteria cannot thrive in an acidic environment.

Honestly it is yucky and even while being female, I never heard of that but honestly, there are more disgusting things than that!

Smelling their by-products is certainly unpleasant, but knowing where the smell comes from is not gross. It is neutral. It's just yet another piece of information.anal bacteria (from feces) = not particularly gross ?

I dont really gt mood swings or anything,like that.I do get particuarly bad pains but i always take plenty of feminax.I do get anxious about whether the blood has spilt ovr the pad and people can see a stain.BTW does a period mak you vomit,cos last time i had one i did vomit(but i never did before)i dont want it to happen again cos i have a bit of a phobia of vomiting

ohhh man, i have a phobia of vomiting, too! luckily, i've been on the pill since i was 15 or so so i've never had terrible issues with that time of the month.. i do have a friend who vomits and feels like pure asshole casserole when she's on her period, but she feels much better and has no problems if she's taking birth control.. maybe you should look into that?

i'm the same way! i'm such a picky eater, i never eat anything new because i'm afraid it could upset my stomach, haha... and your right, if you've never puked before while you were on your period, then you taking another medication instead of the usual could have caused the vomiting.. i hope it doesn't happen to ya next time! 🙁

Has anyone else noticed a little weight gain on BCPs after being assured by so called professionals that this particular product would have no side effects? I'm not interseted in article quotes. I've read them. I'd really like to jear from people with similar experiences.

i know a lot of girls who noticed that! i don't even remember if i gained weight or not.. i probably did.. but my weight fluctuates like you wouldn't believe, lol.. either way, it always evens out and i wouldn't quit taking them, you'll be able to be back to normal soon enough

What brand did you take? My BCP caused no weight gain at all. This is because they contain a smaller or weaker amount of hormones.
No worries. Thanks for the feedback. I've decided to quit them completely and try a different route. At least if the weight stays on I'll know it was for some other reason.
