well do females use the "time of the month" as an excuse? or is it FOR REAL!
when do guys know when this time of the month is! cause woman are always in a bad mood, which is why we love you:)

It is definitely FOR REAL! Your hormone levels are dropping really fast so although not every woman is effected most are.

You'll know if its your girlfriend because you won't be getting any. Other than that you won't know I guess.

I'm going to ignore the fact that you think women are always in bad mood as simply you must bring it out in them :D

My sister growing up had a very rough time of it... She had allot of cramping and would miss allot of school because of it. It wasn't until she was in her 20's that she was diagnosed with endometriosis and fibroids growing in her uterine wall and even a cyste on her overy. I am saying this, because throughout her teen years all the doctors suggested that this pain was in her head, and she should be kicked in the rear for staying home all the time. So extremely painful cramps should be mentioned to a OB/GYN. Sorry for butting in, being a guy and all...

I think this thread was directed toward girls only because it's about our periods and moods caused by our periods.. Not to be sexist at all. And I don't know how many guys honestly want to talk about periods.. k?

And don't feel like you can't post here if you're a guy.. Everyone has the right to post wherever the heck they want.

It's def for real. I've never been real emotional during my time of the month, but I get REALLY crampy which in turn makes me cranky.

What's wrong with periods? Men want to know as much as possible about women to know how to make it most comfortable for them, in every situation imaginable. And that "k?" was completely unnecessary.

haha...this is the opposite to every man I've ever met! My exs wouldn't even let me say the word and certainly didn't want to hear me complain about being moody or in pain!!

Bless your heart! :) I think it's great when men aren't grossed out by the topic and actually want to know more so they know how to better relate to their women.

Thankfully hubby grew up with an older sister who is VVVEEERRRYYY open about that kind of stuff, so he learned a lot from her. He's also 31 so hes more mature than most men my age (I'm 23).

My husband isn't a priss about the issue. He will buy me pads or tampons if I ask him to. Women cashiers have given him compliments before. Some men really don't like to associate women with anything human or natural. Body hair, menstruation, bowel movements, flatulence, cellulite etc... I've heard of men who cannot see their partners in a sexual light after having witnessed their children being born vaginally.

Klytus, dear. There are things about menstruation that you probably do not want to know about. Do you know what causes menstrual blood odor? Do you want to know? If anything, the information won't bring you closer to your partner.

It probably won't bring me closer, but I don't see why I wouldn't want to know the cause. The odor of menstrual blood is most likely one of the least relevant aspects, though. Unless it is indicative of some medical condition.

Menstrual blood odor is caused by anal bacteria (from feces) which feed on the blood cells and tissue (blood clots). The vagina is made into an alkaline enviornment by uterine secretions, blood and cells making it an ideal enviornment for fecal bacteria to thrive.

Helpful bacteria create lactic acid in the vagina when a woman is not menstruating. Fecal bacteria cannot thrive in an acidic enviornment.
