Freezing When anxious, pressured or scared..

My worst nightmare is freezing or falling apart in extreme situations.. Basically being hit with fear or anxiety and thinking too much and hesitating too much or being too afraid to take a proper action or decision.. I hate that... I dont care about being afraid but want want to go through the situation and control myself as i go through it...
I reached a conclusion that the more i face intense situations the more i get used to dealing with them but you dont face it everyday and i dont want to pressure myself into going into some trouble also.. or should it be a bit adventurous and cross the line at least without getting hurt or hurting others?

Being verbally bullied or challenged.. Talking to authority figures or people with extreme confidence or a tough appearance.. Approaching strangers in public or dealing with strangers on certain occasions.. to name a few..

The sciencetific term is called " Tonic Immobility " related to the flight or fight in prehistoric humans. (Google it.)

The story goes like this. Back in the days when we had to deal with lions and tigers prehistoric humans had choices. Run Fight or Play dead. The first 2 didn't quite work against sabortooth tigers so playing dead was a good choice. For some reason this response is still hard wire in our heads even tho its not really use full in modern society. There is also a huge debate as to what the order is. Some say fight or flight some say its flee or fight. For me personaly i try to avoid first.LOL

Oh i forgot to answere you post. Try figuring out what about those situations make you freeze before you try to do the exposure. For me its being evaluated or being in the spotlight.

Usually I fear being ridiculed, made fun of, not knowing how to answer back or get confused and paralyzed by the fear itself... It natural for people to feel that way but i tend to amplify this fear..

There are rare moments where i become ordinary and the fear goes away and i dont know what is the reason for that so far.. Im relax most of the time but on some occasions i get this panic attack for no apparent reason..

I've had that too on occasion, some examples are during a job interview, during a 1 on 1 talk with my dad about my life and he was digging too deep in it, during driving and trying to find where I have to be.

I completely lose the ability to think or respond in a timely matter, no matter how hard I try to think of something to respond or do. It's pretty awkward and embarrassing in a conversation and highly dangerous on the road. One of the things I do to prevent this is try to find a solution for all possible scenarios before hand, like finding the exact location on a map, looking with bird eye view or satellite view to follow the road, prepare myself for any questions I might get during a job interview, etc.

That helped for the most part, but there's still some room for uncertainty and when that happens I probably freeze up.

If I'm out and about (book store, grocery, whatever) and some cutie flirts with me, I lose at least 120 IQ points as well as the ability to act or piece more than a few random words together.

Also in authority figure situations.

I noticed that if i dont think about it or just letting go of the situation without caring much what the outcome would be makes the fear and anxiety go down big time.. I dont care what i look like or how the end result would be, maybe i learned something new that day..
