Favourite social anxiety quotes

Hey everyone. I've been reading this forum for at least 5 years and just finally joined to reply to a thread someone wrote. Thought I'd post a thread of my own asking people if there are any quotes or affirmations about social anxiety that they like. In trying to overcome my social anxiety I've used affirmations to try and change my thoughts and quotes to motivate me. I think it's best if you write them on a piece of paper and keep it in your pocket to pull out and read every day. And read them every day when you wake up and go to bed. I'd like to know if anyone has some good ones. Here are a few I like.

Quotes
- "Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes."
- "However good or bad you feel in this moment, it will not matter 2 years from now."
- "Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage." - Anais Nin
- "Fear of failure is the biggest roadblock to happiness."
- "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
- "Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it." - Greg Anderson

Affirmations
- I will overcome social anxiety and be free.
- I'm fine just how I am even though I get nervous.
- I'm learning socially and know how to act and respond.
- I can be quiet or leave.
- Saying something weird isn't a big deal.
- I don't care what people think.

Good thread! I like these, so many good ones. I will be writing these in my journal.

Affirmations are so important. Getting into the habit of saying them is challenging though. Here are some I like:

"You are going to be okay."
It's not a big deal. It will go away."
"I'm taking it too seriously."

And my all time favorite:
"Just breathe"

Sometimes all I have to do is take a couple of deep breaths and I start to feel better.

I wanted to make a similar thread myself. I will come back and check on it. Thanks for posting it. I am glad you joined the forum :)

Throwing yourself up against the world is worth it even though it is hard, because sometimes you will break through and live brilliant days.
