Fasting and Sleep Deprivation

My friend's been telling me the secret to success is to put food and sleep after achieving your dreams. I've been trying to do this to allow me more time to practice socializing and also getting better grades. It seems like my friend is a natural and can easily control his hunger and his need for sleep. I've had trouble disciplining myself to do so. Any ideas to help make this work?

One thing that works for me is distraction. If I'm sitting not doing anything, I find myself wanting to eat more. But when I'm distracted with schoolwork, hobbies, etc, I don't think about food until I get hungry. It also helps to make a schedule so you know when to wake up and go to bed.
