Facial Expressions

Anybody else find that when they're in an anxiety producing situation their facial expressions get all out of whack and overdone? Like if someone tells a joke, you fell obligated to laugh, and so you flash this big cheesy retarded smile and give out an awkward "hah" because you're too worried to be natural?

Yes, definitely I have found that to be the case, and I think that it happens to a different extent with all social anxiety sufferers. However, the nice thing to know is that this does go away as a person learns to manage his or her anxiety.

Yeah, sometimes I'll put an overly concerned look on my face when I'm listening to someone, and they'll stop in mid-sentence and ask me whats wrong (which only aggravates the situation.) I find it hard to keep a straight-face.

that happens with me a lot. all of my facial expressions become exaggerated, and when I realize how exaggerated they are I'll feel stupid and become emotionless.

When i am anxious my face feels all stiff so i find it hard to smile, i end up looking really serious and worried. I really hate it if someone points it out as it makes me even more anxious.

yea, its the uptight face muscles, i used to beat up on myself over my unnatural smile and expresssion, now i dont focus on it much anymore, its not that iam damaged or something as i thought, i just need to relax and my face will be natural
