Extreme exhaustion lately...

Not sure what's really going on. I mean, normally when I was working, I could get through the entire period without even the need to eat till the end (which means lunch at 4:00 PM) and I was also pretty energectic to get my work done.

But now... since there was a day where I went into work when I was feeling unhappy yet I took my pills in the first time in forever (I took two when I was perscribed 1 a day, but I didn't think a second pill would overdose me, especially knowing the size of the thing), and since I did that, I feel like a zombie...

I'm hungry even though I eat a pretty decent sized breakfast even, so I have to eat more in a day now for energy and that's very unusual... I mean, I don't wanna say it's linked to the pill, however, I do know that after taking the pill I would be groggy for the rest of the afternoon, but I don't think it can be lasting can it?

I just find this weird and annoying. I almost fell asleep at work because there wasn't enough for me to do to get my blood flowing, but I've been feeling like a zombie all day.

You guys have any advice?

Sorry to hear about it! What kind of pills did you take? Painkillers or...?

Read the side effects in the box? And google the pill name+side effects? see if there's a support forum with knowledgeable people about that med?

I was a zombie after taking 2 herbal pills once!! yikes!!
one didn't make any difference and two was just too much!! /I don't dare to take those pills anymore!!/

I felt very odd after some painkillers at a time too, stay away from them since..

I try to stay away from meds as much as possible...

Some people can be allergic or oversensitive to certain chemicals.. including meds/pills..

If you need to take it, ask your doctor if you can replace it with something different?

I was taking Celexa which is an anti-anxiety pill. It works a little more than Paxil for me, I'll admit (as much as I hate to because I hate medication), but, the very first time I took it, I was in bed all day, which I guess was OK at the time because I was at a mental hospital for suicidal thoughts which was the whole reason I was put on it.

I don't really HAVE to take it, I mean, I pretty much weened myself off of it so I wouldn't need it anymore. The only time I ever take it anymore is if I'm feeling very depressed in a day so I take two to counter the depression quickly (hopefully).

I mean.. I personally don't see much difference but I guess it's more false hope that does the work than the pill itself.

at least 30 grams of protein for breakfast

and a couple of Monster energy drinks

The protein is doable if we actually have something decent to eat in the kitchen. This morning, I thought was decent because of the carbs. Pumpkin bread should have carbs right, being bread and all?

Ugh... I dunno about the energy drinks. At that point, I'd rather stick with caffeine from soda. Energy drinks taste nasty to me. :/

no carbs for breakfast - use protein powder - you can make a shake with berries and yogurt in the blender - yummy

quadruple espresso is good instead of the energy drink

*sweatdrop* I don't wanna sound picky, but I don't exactly like shakes or anything coffee related either.

Rawr... What I need is sausage and maybe a little bacon. That's definatly protein.

that's good stuff too!

seriously - protein will give you more energy than carbs every time

cottage cheese is really good if you can eat dairy - lots of protein in cottage cheese - not much work early in the morning, too - just scoop and eat

Cheese is also a good source of protein I think. *edit* Ninja'd by Coyote

Anyway you might feel tired because of your meds?I find a lot of the time it takes a while for you body to adjust. It should hopefully wear off after a while.I think it's quite common In anti anxiety medication,I know my diazipam use to wipe me out when I first started taking them.

Well that's the thing, I only take my pills whenever I'm very depressed in a day. Other times, I see no reason to take it.

Observe yourself on and off pills.. I googled 'celexa exhausted side effects' and it seems other people have had bad experience with it, sometimes after a few years of taking it without problem...!!

Yup, fatigue (tiredness) seems to be a quite common side effect: http://depression.emedtv.com/celexa/celexa-side-effects.html

I agree protein can boost energy.. Maybe an egg or something? (egg+bread can maybe be okay too?) You can experiment with different things and see what works best?

Some people with autism don't react well to gluten/diary.. you could experiment with that a bit too.. (and maybe keep track of what you eat and how you feel...)

I'd stay away from energy drinks and caffeine too, yup!!

Energy drinks can give you 'artificial energy' and sorta make things worse long-term.. Have been related to heart attacks and such too!!
Coffe can give you an 'up'n'down' spike too.. (I like it but only drink VERY occasionally..)

I'd stay away from soda pop drinks too!! They can decrease your magnesium levels and other good vitamins/minerals and mostly have iffy things in them (like caffeine or sugar or artificial food additives and other iffy chemicals) Lack of magnesium can cause anxiety/depression... and here you go.. vicious circle..

So, it's best to work on depression prevention.

Are you also familiar with any CBT/journalling or EFT/TAT or such? - can also help deal with depression naturally, without meds...
You basically write down your worries and deal with them, replacing with more helpful/realistic thoughts, or tap them away?

Well, I guess I'll always be tired when I take it because I only take it when I'm having a bad day but lately, thank god, I've been pretty OK with life.

I have mac and cheese for breakfast seeing as we didn't have any sliced cheese but we did have graded so woo. :3 It worked pretty well.

Well I guess I'm lucky then. xD I'm fine when I eat cheese (plus I love the stuff). The only this I know I can't eat is something that's completely smothered in grease because it makes my stomach hurt.

Well.. Bleh. I always go for Sprite whenever I get to work and drink whatever soda we have at home, but if we don't have any soda, I'll go with tea. So... I'm still drinking things with caffiene. >: (Not Sprite so much, but at home, we usually have Dark Thunder, Moutain Dew, or Coca Cola.)

Well I used to write a journal when I saw a therapist when I got out of the psyche ward, but I don't see her anymore because my mom stopped taking me.

So, I should be safe if I cut back to 5 or 6 of the 24 oz Monsters a day?

You don't like shakes? A shake is what u make it! I recently started making my own shakes.

1 Apple
1 Banana
1 Orange
2 Kiwi's
2 BIG hand fulls of frozen berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries etc)
A hand full of spinach :D (It really makes no difference to the taste of the shake, honest)
Scoop of whey protein powder

Your not limited in anyway. You really can throw anything in to the blender and produce a shake that's tasty and nutritious at the same time.

You look up the ingredients i posted and you notice that that's more than the recommended 5 a-day in 1 serving. You can go for green smoothies, a few portions of vegetables and you just have to add in 1 or 2 portions of fruit to sweeten it up. (It may not look delicious, but give it a try).

This will give your energy levels that enormous boost that your after.

:)

It isn't the taste that bothers me. It's the texture. I'm weird that way.

Say with like whiped cream; I HATE the stuff, but I love icing because the texture is more tolerable. Or with cereal, I can never eat it with milk because the textures are completely different, and I can't wait to eat it because then the puffs are all mushy. x-x

Dark leafy green things; kale, spinach, etc.
Alkalizing, which dramatically improves energy. Try eating a big salad with dark leafy things each day, or a green smoothie, and perhaps do some strenuous cardio to get the blood flowing? I know it's hard when you're tired, but to have energy you have to make it.

Maybe the next time when my mom goes to the store I can ask for salad because we almost, never have veggies in our house because she can't stand them. She can't even stand fruit so if we have any fruit at all, it's normally just apples. MAYBE bananas or grapes, but it's rare.
