in the past ive had a severe substance abuse problem and my social anxiety is really bad now

is there a way without taking medication that could help me lead a " normal " social life

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is proven to be the best method for treating anxiety and can help by itself, though most seem to do a combination of CBT while taking medication. It can work, but you have to be pretty dedicated to it.
