I've been having this weird desire.. I dont wish like i guess every other normal guy does , to have sex and get married... I wish i have a friend, whose a girl a little older than me and i wish to be her bestest and most loyal friend... i want to give her the wonderfulest present on her marriage... i want to be good friends with her husband and i want to know her for the rest of my life i dont want to lose her friendship at any cost... I want to be loyal to her and always give her space when she cant talk to me and i want to meet her in a public place when she gets married and have dinner with her and treat her like a big sister... Do you think this is insane?? Do you think it's wrong for a guy to like a girl and respect her and be her friend if he doesnt want to marry her?? Cos, people say it's always 'Marriage' when a guy falls for a girl... But i'd like to hear from someone else whose like me... whose got social anxiety and who has been neglected by other people... i want to know from you guys what you would do when a girl cares for you and you give her every ounce of respect and do everything it takes to be her friend... Would you ignore her like she doesnt exist on this planet when she gets married... I dont know, i dont think i ever can! :(...

I don't think you're alone on it, if you really care about someone, regardless of gender you'll want to do anything to make them happy or bring them joy.

The trouble is that it doesn't usually work out between the different sexes. Jealousy, lust and misunderstanding will probably get in the way and one of you will interpret signs differently and then get hurt. I don't think it's impossible for a guy to befriend a girl, but it is if there's a previous more 'intimate' relationship, or if you don't hold your reserves and make it clear from the beginning that all you want to do is be friends.

I'm having similar issues at the moment with my ex-girlfriend. We're good friends still, but i don't know how long it can last... she has a new boyfriend now and i'm not overly happy about it...

Having said that, if she's that important to you, i'd make every effort to remain friends :)

The problem with having a best friend of the opposite sex is that seeing them get married and knowing their doing it with another guy/girl would just be too much for a lot of people..I'd be pretty jealous I'm not gonna lie to you. But that's just me
