I find I remember bad memories more vividly than the few good ones I have.

Yes. I go over and over the bad ones, which of course just ingrains them more deeply.

I know I have good ones, but spend hardly any time on them. I know it's self-destructive but I can't seem to stop it.

I get frustrated with my disobedient, malfunctioning brain.

Right now I feel embarrassed bcus I just got fired from wal-mart (for "stealing" a doughnut that was gonna be thrown out). I feel embarrassed (though I'm not really sure why) and stupid at the same time. All I can think is, "wtf was I thinking".

im sry but that is the funniest ting i heard in a while. lmao

and to answer TS, yes i do . actually in the last 2 or 3 weeks, every night when im attempting to sleep, them embarrasing moments just pop into my head, the more i try to think of sumthing else the worse it gets. took me about 2 hrs to actually fall asleep last night. then i woke up 3 hrs later. its kinda head wrecking. i cant remember the last time i got a full nights kip without waking up during the night !!

Yes sometimes..

Yes, even with things that happened years ago.

Yep, I do this as well. Often, I think about the things I could have done to avoid the situation or change it for the better. Every now and then I'll come up with something reasonable, but since it's after the fact it really doesn't help.

yeah, so many cringeworthy moments that come out and haunt me at night, I'd pay somebody to erase them!!

Oh god i ALWAYS seem to look back and cringe over the embarrassment! I even do that on a night out. Whenever i'm on my way home i replay the whole night in my head and think,"Omg aimee, why the hell did you do/say that!". 0.o

Thier are moments that are embarrassing but make me laugh though. Like one time i was about to get off the bus with my friend, she stepped off and as i was about too the doors shut in my face and zoomed off fast which resulted in me falling over right into someone else! The WHOLE bus was staring at me! I must have gone so bright red at this point. Ah well, made me laugh. 😀

Yes actually I do this a lot. Some times I think of all of them one after another and feel like **** about myself and how pathetic and flawed I am.

Lately I try to put them out of my head immediately because I think I shouldn't be making myself feel bad because I've got enough problems.

i do it all the time at night before i go to sleep, but i usually just giggle like a little girl

but if it was something really recent like say for example i went to a party earlier that night but didnt work up the courage to talk to anyone - i'd probably toss and turn thinking about all the things i shouldve done/thought of... but i find i learn to laugh at embarassing moments the older they get

I do the same thing. I've been thinking about something I did in February and I am hating myself soooo much. I haven't talked to the person since then, but I can't help but think pretty soon they're going to pop up and embarrass me. Ugh. Just the thought of it makes me want to die.

it was actually a ken-doll and i photoshopped my face onto it... life in plastic its fantastic

Aw I'm sorry 🙁 I think the same way in fact, I obsess about past events. But you shouldn't be so hard on yourself you seem nice. 😀

Thanks. =J
It's so hard not to think about it though...I could have stopped it any time but he made me feel like I couldn't. Ugh. I was too easily manipulated and I'm hating him so much for it.

It was a real eye-opener for me though and I'll definitely never let another person control me and humiliate me again.

No, I relish every moment of every embarrassing experience. There are few things that bring me greater pleasure than recounting moments of rejection and social awkwardness.

You're so funny, hippiechild 😀

In all seriousness though, my mother honestly tried to get me to think like this when I was younger. I was told that the saints loved suffering and if I didn't love suffering and rejoice in humiliations as much as they did, I would never go to heaven.

Oh no! I always hated suffering. It looks like I'm destined to burn in hell for all eternity. Maybe I can make up for all those lost opportunities by flagellating myself and ejaculating as often as possible 😮

(Hm...I think that may've come out sounding a bit, um.. wrong, and possibly obscene. I'm just making it clear to all that I didn't mean "ejaculating" in that sort of way; I meant it in the Catholic, "reciting of an exclamatory short prayer" kind of way :😛:)

I think about embarrassing moments all the time. It's almost like I'm purposely torturing myself by doing it. I will think about the what-ifs and why I did this or that or said this or that in a certain situation. I know it can't be a healthy thing to do and it's almost like I want to smack my palm against my forehead everytime I allow myself to daydream about embarrassing stuff from the past.

I remeber in detail every single embarrising moment and sad moments everyday and it does make me sad and when i remeber embarrising moments out of nowhere i start to have mini panik attacks. I hate it and sometimes i cant sleep or do anything straight neither it happens everyday. I dont know what to do.

There's been extreme time where i harm myself. Like bite or cut or other stuff. O get soo worked up, i can barley breathe or control anything. feel as if im nothing but usless and pathetic when this happens and i can'r do anything about how people see me. Its annoying especially when im studying.
#39
I do that all the time. It's really annoying, especially in public. Usually when I remember stupid things I've done I'll bury my face in my hands or try to scrunch myself into a ball without even thinking about it. 🙄

aghhh!! i do this sometimes! it definitely makes me cringe! i'll think about embarrassing times or stupid things i've done and i just make myself change the subject in my head real quick, haha.. funny how i've gotten pretty good at moving my mind from one thing to another for everything except anxiety! dang! lol
