i have ocd. it was severe for years and i was confined/trapped in my own ****ing head. i couldnt work, couldnt go to parties, couldnt get anywhere on time, dropped out of college. but since a lot of therapy, my ocd has gotten much better. this is the good part.

but!

i recently moved out of state. the apartment is new and everything is different. thanks to therapy and such, this situation that would normally trigger panic and anxiety has simple triggered agitation and a feeling of sadness.

i have never felt this before. usually when i get down, its because of ocd, but im jsut depressed. nothing is fun, i dont feel like eating, sleeping is not deep and i havent talked to my friends or family in a month. i have no motivation and i feel depressed or numb. im not sure what to do.

do i wait it out?

thanks...

If its been a month then it would be a good move to seek help :)

Do you have friends or a support network in the new location? If not, can you find some?

Maybe look into feng shui and try a different bed location or something like that?
For some people, immediate environment can have an effect.

Are you working/studying at a new place too? That could be a factor as well... Have you been eating well and exercising...? These things can be important too...

So, you could start to work on things yourself or maybe look for help, in books, online or with a RL therapist?

YAY for getting cured of OCD!! Can you tell how it happened and who helped you & how? (OCD specialist or...?) Also, did you have Pure OCD or another form?

Hi Feathers.

My OCD is not cured, but its definitely at a minimum. I did almost a year of ACT therapy which was so helpful. After that I saw a naturopath who said i was allergic to some foods and had a hormonal imbalance. i gave up the foods and then after a month tried them again. one was chocolate which gave me a crazy headache and one was white potato which made me super depressed. i also did a liver cleansing. not a detox, just stopped eating foods that i was told i was allergic too and to not drink or smoke.

Are you still doing the commitment therapy? Do you have any aspirations or goals left after collage? Or are you trying to orientate yourself again?

You need to keep on going. It's normal to be depressed if you do nothing all day.

hey meme,

Thanks for the answer. Good to know. Are you eating those foods again or have you eliminated anything again? Maybe worth checking out...
Sometimes furntiture or eg mold in appartment can maybe be a source of troubles too...

Maybe there could also be something 'hidden' in any foods you eat now? (manufacturers sometimes switch recipes etc, or allergies/sensitivities can change...)

Can you see a therapist or naturopath again?

I don't know if I could live without chocolate though. lol. (Though if needed could probably give it up, as long as it weren't brought into the house, and I'd get enough mgnesium with other foods...)
