Anybody here have a collection of some kind? Back when i was in school i started collecting basketball cards it helped me because it was popular at the time and helped me interact with people even though i'm not really a big fan of basketball. I also have a rather pitiful collection of coins. I just keep any odd coins i find when sifting through change.

I collect coins. I have been collecting the state quarters(U.S.)which now all 50 have been released. I like collecting things from any state I visit. Like shot glasses or banners with the name of the state on it.

I've got a closet full of baseball cards I collected as a kid, but I don't collect anymore.

In recent years I'm just collecting a pile of random paper products that help me imagine having a life: a state parks permit, baylink ferry daypass, two movie ticket stubs, two baseball tickets, a couple of postcards sent by a SoCal friend so I can pretend I went to SoCal, and a London Underground ticket from a London friend so I can pretend I've been to Europe.

Hmm... next time I go to Nevada (the only other state I've visited) I need to remember to save a Burger King receipt for my pile. Hopefully they have addresses on those.

I tried collecting them all but it took so long for them to come out that i kinda forgot about it. How many states have you collected?

That's a rather interesting idea. Hows that worked out?

I've collected all fifty states. Hawaii was the last one to come out. I would get them from my pocket change, but they got too hard to find that way. So I have been buying uncirculated ones at a coin shop.

I enjoy it. Each piece has a memory with it, even if not the one it might imply to someone else.

I forgot to mention I also have a stack of treasured rejection letters from trying to publish a book a few years back (most generic form letters, but one personalized and complimentary)... though I've no immediate plans to add to that collection.

Just philosophy (my fiction isn't book-length). Since I'm not a professor I didn't expect publication, just thought it'd be fun to try as long as I was writing it anyway. Practice in accepting rejection.

I have a collection of Luke Skywalker action figures. Since that's who mom named me after, I like telling people that I have action figures of myself.

I also collect patches. I have my grandfather's sergeant stripes (AAF) and several states and locations I've been to. That particular grandfather died when I was young, and was rather distant while he was alive. But he was one of the many young men who got a ride in a B-29 over Tokyo and other Japanese cities.

So maybe that's why I also collect history books. I've really been getting into World War II this year. So I've added those books to the Roman and medieval Europe books I loved as a teen. I also have a strange habit of collecting violin sheet music despite never playing my violin.

Speaking of instruments, I also have a steadily growing collection of electric guitars, amps, and effect pedals. And picks, too. Nothing too fancy, but more than enough to suit my needs. Or is it?

I keep ticket stubs from concerts I attend. Every now and then my dad mentions the time he saw a band or performer when he was younger. And since I like live music, I think it'll be pretty cool to look back on all the bands I saw when I was younger. Assuming I live to be old enough and healthy enough to look back on a lifetime of ticket stubs, that is....

:D

Let's see I collect books fiction and non fiction, mostly fantasy or sci fi, non fiction I tend towards military history. I also have quite a few comics, action figures and dvds that fill up my space. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being too materiallistic in accumulating all these things, but I try to keep my collecting under control and sell things off if I haven't looked at them in a while or I'm not interested in them anymore.
