Awkward laughs

I know I've been guilty for this many times, but whenever someone tells a joke and they laugh, I tend to force out my laughing and then people give me awkward looks or exchange awkward glances at me. It happened a lot today when I was at my speech therapist group and these kids were making jokes but I couldn't help but force out my laughs(I didn't want to be mean either because I didn't laugh at their jokes.) But when I do laugh at their jokes, it comes off as awkward and forced. Do any of you find yourselves doing that as well. I just feel so bad in the end that I'm letting my anxiety take control over everything.

I can't really force laughter. I find it hard to be fake in general. But I know that I laugh nervously a lot. Like when I get uncomfortable or don't know what to say. I hate it, I feel so lame.

I've never forced a laughter before. I tend to laugh at almost anything actually. Kinda weird in my part.

Instead of forcing a laugh, why don't you try to smile and chuckle a little.

Hope that helped!

Forcing laughte actually backfires. People want genuine laughter

I know that, but it's not because I'm trying to be mean if I don't laugh or anything. I don't know, maybe my social anxiety gets the best of me and I get a nervous feeling that like my laugh isn't coming out natural. Maybe I just don't feel like laughing.

I do try and smile and laugh, but when I force it or it comes out nervous, people give me awkward looks and it makes the whole situation awkward. Maybe I'm just a socially awkward like that. Maybe I kind of doze off when people say something that's funny and I'll force a laugh even if it was funny. But thanks for the advice.
