Any of you guys less scared around relatives as opposed to non relatives (coworkers, classmates, etc). If so, I wonder what exactly it is that makes people react comfortably in front of relatives as opposed to other people? Is there a way to make others seem like relatives so that we can be more comfortable interacting like them. Just wondering :)

It all comes down to our insecurities you have to keep telling urself its ok to be urself in public and not worry what other ppl think and try to rlly focus on everything else but urself!! :)

I'm probably more on edge around my relatives than friends, acquaintances, and strangers. I think it's because everyone's known about my depression/anxiety problems for years (good genes in my family). I know the questions are bound to come up eventually, and as time goes by my tensions slowly rise in anticipation of the moment when they do.

It also has to do with the fact that my relatives know me, know what I'm doing, and know what I'm capable of. Most others only know what I tell them about myself, although there is the rare occasion when someone has some brilliant flash of insight into what is really going on in my life.
