Always let them see you sweat!

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with some advice.
I've read through quite a few post and have no idea what to try.

I've been trying to interview, but as a result of this condition the experience has been completely humiliating and I'm now depressed and really sad. In addition, as a direct result of this condition I do not have anyone in my life, so I do not have anyone to support me.

During the interview I start to feel as if I'm ready to spontaneously combust as sweat streams from my forehead. I understand what causes the problem, but can't stop it.

I've had bad facial sweating thoughout my life, but in social situations or warm locations(subway, taxi, restaurant, house, street-- you get the idea) it can frighten unsuspecting bystanders.

my only advice is to talk to a dermatologist about it. from what i read in the forum, not many doctors take the condition seriosly. he might prescribe drysol but it makes yer skin feel like fire ants are bittin you. you should ask for Glycopyrrolate cream. my doctor didnt prescribe it to me until i mentioned about it. i dont get the medication till this week hopefully. side effects are dry mouth, sensitivity to light. but its a small price to pay if it cures yer HH. you can try gettin the oral medication of Glycopyrrolate, which im guessin is called robinol? im not sure. try it out and good luck and take care

Hello there,

I too have faced this problem many times with HH. I am not working at the moment and dread to think what it will be like when I do. I suffer with generalised HH, all over and it's worse on my head, face, back, neck and chest.

I have started a new group, there are others like us facing the same problem with work and finding a job that wont cause much movement or distress from HH.

Hope to see you there!

Phantom,

I completely agree that doctors do not take this condition seriously, but the majority of the population doesn't either. In there defense I've never seen another person like me, so I believe the condition is somewhat rare.

I don't have a dermatologist at the moment, but I do hope the cream works for you.

Have you tried telling the interviewers (or people in general) that you have HH and that it's an actual disease? Most of the people I've told that to have understood, or at least not reacted negatively.
And try not to worry about scaring random people. They don't know you and will likely forget about it within a few minutes. People tend to concentrate on themselves anyway.

My dermatologist actually used to have HH, so he takes it seriously. :)

Have you looked into any of the cures?

Avert works wells for me and I have general HH. But talk to a derm first...if he can't help you, buy Avert from pharmacy.ca and let your doctors know you're taking it (just in case...you NEVER know what might happen).

...and I'm curious, do you always sweat profusely during interviews? Like...you can't sit through a 30 minute interview without getting soaked?
