about boot camp

Do you guys think it's a good idea to go to boot camp to cure your social anxiety because you CHOOSE to, or is it a bad idea?

I sometimes think that it will make a man out of me, no matter how many times I'm constantly tortured and looked down upon. And one of my wishes is to try and get rid of my social anxiety and make me be more open and social. But at the same time, what if it makes me worse and become scarred for life?

I've never heard of anyone going to a bootcamp to try to help their SA.... it actually doesn't seem as if it would help, to me. But, if you truly feel that something like that would hlp you, then you could go ahead & choose to do it.

For myself, something like that would turn me into a complete hermit & make me psycho. I couldn't deal with it at all.

I've been, and I can see it helping. Although, depending on what happens and how you handle yourself, I can see it making things worse. Remember, after boot camp there is the life in the military. Maybe active, maybe guard, but remember there is a war going on, so the chances are good you'll go. I wouldn't think you can gain much from boot camp because you'll be so busy and tired, plus the drill sergeants have a tendency to be less than kind. 8) However, after you get out, you have an opportunity to meet and spend some time in close quarters with some great people. It's easy to form strong friendships so that could be helpful.

hi im new here and i registered just for this topic since I believe I have a pretty unique view on this. I have gone through boot camp and have been in the army for two years now, and am currently deployed as well. Boot camp and the army in general is very good for forcing you into making friends and getting to know people, as you have no choice but to spent alot of time with them. While i still have SA and it is very hard on my life, joining the army has made me begin forcing myself to take chances in order to face my fears. However, if your SA is extremely bad or you are not yet ready to face being alone with no one familiar, joining the military could be a bad thing.

My local college offers a fitness boot camp in their non-credit courses. One class is from 5:30am to 6:30am, others start at 6:30am and 7:30am. Exercise is great way to gain confidence and fight depression and anxiety.
