A self-esteem boost, raises a question

Forgive me for sounding shallow here, but...

I know it is weird for a guy to be overtly concerned with his looks, but I was, so I posted my pic on a site/forum to ask if there could be any improvements. To my surprise, I had very positive reponses being called "sexy" and "cute" and was given an 8.8 by one member (lol).

But this raised a question, as some male co-workers had insulted randomly on my looks, one saying "you and that other guy make me look good in front of the women" from some little guy who was overly confident, another calling me "ugly." Someone told me that it's just the competition saying that, but do they really say it to your face if you have those detriments to your appearance?

And I don't want to seem like I am self-centered, as the only reason I had posted on that forum was because of what they had said about me and it made me feel like crap so I went looking for a less competitive opinion.

Don't worry about what someone says to your face. Normally they only say it to try and be funny, or because they think you're weak and won't do anything about it. If people over the internet are giving you positive feedback, they probably aren't lying. I mean, if someone on here called you ugly, what would you do about it? What's to stop them? As many lies as there are on the internet, you can probably trust people's opinions... unless they're trying to sell you something.

In my opinion, guys call other guys ugly as much as girls call other girls ugly, and it's usually cuz of jealousy.

Even if your male co-workers, deep down in their heart of hearts, truly, sincerely believe that you're ugly, does their opinion really matter? If the girls on the site give you responses like sexy, etc., who gives a **** what a bunch of guys think anyway?
