Does this happen to you guys?

This happens to me all the time, but I'll give you a specific example. Last week I was in a Best Buy. I asked the guy about a certain MP3 player and he started telling me about it. After about 5 seconds of him looking at my eyes, I got really self concious and nervous and had to look away. The...

Getting back to "normal life" after avoiding so mu

Right now I'm in CBT therapy and it's really up and down. Somedays I feel like I'm turning the corner and other days I feel like I'm in a bad shape. Pretty soon I should have a job lined up and I'm excited about that, but I'm also really worried about fitting it and feeling comfortable in...

Eye contact in non verbal situations?

I always feel anxious when I'm in a hallway at work or in a grocery store and I pass people without saying anything. I never know where to look or how long to look? If I look at the people coming towards me in the eyes, I feel like a creeper and if I look straight ahead I get that weird feeling...

movements. Anyone else like this? I just started CBT with my therapist and while I was doing some homework I realized all the situations that cause anxiety are cause by my obsession with my facial expression and eye moements and contact. I fear someone will see me making a weird face and think...

    Who's tried CBT here?

I just started my first CBT session with my therapist yesterday and it was ok I guess. The first day we worked on a sheet together. Basically it had 7 columns: Trigger, Automatic thought, Feelings, Behavior/Reaction, Examine Automatic Though, Reframe Automatic Thought, and Behavioral Plan. I...

Finding old classmates on facebook or myspace.. how depressi

depressing. So, I was browsing Facebook and I found out my two close friends from high school/college are now married. It doesn't surprise me since they were very outgoing and pretty mature when it came to relationships. It just kills me to see it in writing. I lost touch with them 4 years ago...

2 1/2 week wait in between therapist CBT sessions :(

Man, I feel like crap. Right now I have no job, I have no idea if the meds I'm taking are doing anything because my life is so screwed up right now and the wait in between therapist sessions is just soooooooooo annoying. I want to get a crappy retail job so I can get back into things again, but...

Has anyone had a SA relapse?

By that I mean, you improved your anxiety to an acceptable level and were pretty much enjoying life again, but a few years later you started losing it again and had to start from point a again. Cause, that's where I'm at right now. I had a real bad case of anxiety in high school. Through therapy...

Anyone here use medication for your anxiety/social phobia?

If so, when did you start to notice it was working? How did it help you? Currently I'm on 20 mg of Paxil and don't really notice anything different. Should I ask the dosage to be increased?

Are my meds causing this? Please read.

So, I started Paxil 1 month ago and added Buspar 3 weeks ago. I also had 2 therapy sessions so far and he will be using CBT therapy to help me. The problem is, I don't have a job right now, because my anxiety was so bad I quit my last job. So basically I'm just sitting around the house and I...

    Question about eye contact

Whenever I look directly into someone's eyes for more than a few seconds I get nervous and can't focus on what they're saying. Do you think if I looked at their shoulders instead, it would still look like I'm making eye contact? What do you guys do?

Has anyone been to an anxiety support meeting before?

I saw an ad for a panic attack and anxiety support group in my local paper. They meet up every few weeks at a Borders to chat with each and discuss ways to help overcome their problems. I was thinking of going, but I'm worried if I will be the only young person. Has anyone gone to a support...

I can't connect with anyone one on one

I feel so alone right now. Day after day it's the same crappy feeling. I never feel at ease around people and because of this I'm unable to bond with people. I just want to live a normal life. I wanna love someone and be loved, but it seems impossible and I have no idea how to change. I have my...

I think I have very deep and serious confidence problems.

So this is my big problem. I freak out when someone looks into my eyes when they are talking to me. The moment they gaze into my eyes, it triggers nervous energy and the whole time I can't stop thinking about making eye contact. I wonder if I look weird, I wonder if I'm making enough/not enough...

    Question about the med Buspar?

It's not a fast acting drug like Xanax, but my Doctor told me to take 15 mg in the morning and 15 mg in the afternoon. If it's not fast acting then why is she having me split the dosage up? Does it really matter when you take it?

I always feel weird holding eye contact

Does anyone else have this problem? Whenever someone is talking to me for a while I get so uncomfortable just staring at them in the eyes as they talk to me, so I go back and forth between their eyes and looking away. Whenever I do make eye contact, I feel like I'm trying too hard and they can...

Anyone try this technique to fight negative thoughts/worries

So, I just recently started meds and therapy and the other day I tried one of the CBT exercises they suggested in a book to overcome my fear of girls. Basicallly, before I go to a busy place (ie mall) I open up wordpad on my computer and start writing down things a hot girl in the store might be...

I'm confused about my meds situation

Ok, right now I'm on 20 mg of Paxil and 30 mg of Buspar. I took the Paxil by itself for 1 month and I really didn't feel a change. Really the only thing that happened was my emotions went away and I couldn't get off. That's pretty pointless since it didn't really help my #1 problem which is...

    Is anyone on Paxil here?

I took it it for 5 years starting 10 years ago and it turned my life around. The 5th year it started losing it's effect, so I got off it thinking, "well, what's the point of staying on something that doesn't work"... Big mistake... Anyways, now I'm back on it again, same dose- 20 mg, and I'm not...
