Hyperhidrosis for feet, back of thighs and the butt!

For those suffering from these two types of HH, I can recommend using iontophoresis to reduce the sweating. I've spent a lot of time and thrown a lot of money away on things that didn't work or weren't as effective. Of course you may not achieve the same results I do, but chances are, you and I aren't that different and you will get the results you want.

Please let me know your results because I would like to see people get help for their condition. I've gone through a lot of frustration and also have suffered from a lot of depression because of HH. I wish I would have known about the condition and the treatment for it a long time ago.

Here is what works for me:

I bought a DC power supply (30 Volts max) and used that as my ionto machine.

For my feet I use two shoe plastic shoe containers and gutter guards I bought from Home Depot. I cut the gutter guards for each shoe container. The objective is to cut one long strip to cover the entire bottom of each container and bend one end of each strip so that the metal can stick out of the container on one end. The part sticking out of the container will be where you will clip your alligator clip test leads. The black lead goes on one container and the red will go on the other.

Then you get baking soda and salt and put about 2 tablespoons of each into each of your containers. You can put more or less in, but the point is to make your water bath conductive. Next you can add warm or hot water to each container and have the level of water be enough submerge the soles of your feet. If you sweat from the top of your feet, then add more water until your foot is submerged. Make sure you mix up the water so that your baking soda and salt dissolves.

After that is done, you may want to put some Aquaphor or vaseline on your toe nails. The current tends to make them sting and the vaseline blocks it. Don't put the vaseline on the soles of your feet because you don't want the current to be blocked from that part. The current is what will reduce the sweating! When you are ready, you can put your feet in the water bath and make sure your soles are touching the metal and keep them there for the duration of the ionto session.

When it comes to the voltage, you should use as much as you can tolerate, but I wouldn't go beyond 30 volts. I use about 25 volts for one hour (30 minutes each polarity). The amperage I use is about 1-3 milliamps.
The length of time for your sessions will vary depending on your severity of HH. You will have to gauge how much time is necessary for your condition.
Be aware that you may need to have sessions every day for one to two weeks before you start to get the results you want.
After you achieve the dryness you want, you can start doing maintenance sessions which will likely be once or twice a week. The length of time for the maintenance sessions again will vary upon your condition. You will need to experiment!

Now, if you want to get your groin, then here is what you do:
Buy an absorber towel you would typically use to dry your car with. They hold water well, and that is key for it to work for you. Get a large one so that you can cut it to the size you want. Keep in mind that only the parts of your skin that touch the towel will receive the current from the ionto, so make sure you have enough to cover the parts you want to treat. Buy some nylon rope because it will get wet and it will be much easier to untie than regular rope. You will use the rope to secure the towel to your body and provide the necessary pressure to deliver the current to your skin. The rope I have is long enough so that I can sling it over my shoulder and have it hold the towel in place without needing me to hold the rope up with my hands.
Get a about a foot of aluminum foil and fold it up to a long strip. This will be rolled up in the towel along with the rope and will serve as your conductor for attaching the alligator clip to.
When the rope and foil are rolled up in the towel, you then need to get a fresh water bath with baking soda and salt to soak the rolled up towel in. It is important you do this because you need to make a solution that is conductive which is what will make the towel conductive. Then in a standing position, place the rolled up towel between your legs so that you can take care of your groin with iontophoresis. It has to be one of the most embarrassing moments in my life when I am standing there with this home made contraption. However, since it nearly stops my sweating, it's worth it :)

The next step is to get one of your feet in the water bath mentioned earlier and clip one of the leads there and one of the leads to the foil. You'll be standing with one foot on the floor and one foot in the water bath on top of the metal gutter guard. The towel will be between your legs. Start your session! Use a voltage that you can tolerate. When you switch polarities, keep the same foot in the water bath. You will be able to treat one foot and your groin at the same time. Again, your session length will vary depending on your condition.

This is the first time anyone ever described groin ionto treatment. I think it's great! I also like that you improvised on using the power supply as your ionto source.

Thanks so much for sharing

Thank you! I just think that no one wants to admit they have groin HH. I know people want to know how to handle it, but no one wants to throw themselves out there and provide the solution. Hopefully this gives people the help they were looking for.

I use Maxim applied to a cotton pad then wipe the groin area at bedtime. This has been a massive help also.

Combining methods such as ionto and antiperspirants will definitely help more than anything by itself. Glad to hear it is working for you, ukchick!

I just needed to provide an update to this one. I found a better ionto setup to handle sweating from my feet, the back of my thighs, and butt! I use a bath chair in the tub and a container large enough to have both of my feet in at the same time. I put aluminum foil on the seat and then put the chamois soaked in the baking soda/salt solution over the foil so that I can create an "electrified seat". Make sure the chamois is fairly wet with the baking soda and salt solution! You need it wet to make ionto work properly!

I then take the large container for my feet and mix in the baking soda/salt solution and then put a large piece of aluminum foil inside the container so I can place my feet on top of it. I then connect one lead to the foil at the rear of the chair and the other lead goes to the foil in the water bath for my feet.

Next, I put both feet in the large container, and then sit on the chair to let the ionto work its magic :)
Both of my feet need to be touching each other at the sides so that I get one electrical contact point. If I don't do this, the treatment for my feet is not as effective.

The current simultaneously enters both of my feet in the container, and then goes up my legs to where it completes the circuit on my electrified seat. I then reverse the polarity after 15-30 minutes, and complete the session by doing another 15-30 minutes.

That handles my feet, legs, and butt all in one session

Wow ! I still think filling a bathtub up partial way then have a separate tray that you can put one hand into to complete the circuit. This can accomplish the same thing?? Butt, feet, groin, hands, lower back. I guess then the upper body may want to sweat more. Just for effect, you'll need to wrap that aluminum foil around ones head to ward off the aliens .

Wow...mind blown...very crafty and persevering of you.

Sprawling that thing you mention I thought about too with the bath tub and then one hand in a seperate tray to complete the circuit.

I didn't have the nuts to pull through with it cause of...well...my nuts...

I wonder what the effects of the current on the *cough* soft tissue *cough* is...If it makes my skin magically dry which makes me able to have liaisons with all the pretty girls but then messes up those bits in the process it kind of beats the purpose.

86theHH (Baller86?): sparing as much detail as possible, any noticeable changes in that area after applying current to it?

Thanks for the thumbs up, Sprawling! Oh and Merry Christmas too!

The way you describe partially filling the bath tub to handle lower body sweating, would seem unlikely. Even though the idea sounds great, I'm pretty sure the skin needs to make contact with either the aluminum or the chamois on top of the aluminum. The reason being the current in a salt/baking soda solution without a solid conductor isn't significant enough to make the ionto work properly. You need to have a solid conductor (ie aluminum) in a solution with the area of concern making contact in some fashion to the conductor.

As for using my hands to complete the circuit, that isn't a good option for me. For what ever reason, the sensitivity in my hands won't allow me to reach the voltages I need for ionto to work. I usually stay in the range of 15-19 volts and at that range my hands start to get too uncomfortable.

Thanks for the compliment, sir!
I hope the advice and techniques I'm dishing out, help other people too

The changes I noticed were an increase in length and girth!
Just kidding! I didn't see any changes.

With the franks and beans, I only have current touching the sides of the beans. It's not really much more uncomfortable than any other areas I treat with ionto, but I do notice more redness because my butt and groin are more sensitive than my feet. Go figure! HA!
Whether or not this has an effect on reproductive ability is beyond me. :idontknow: Don't really care!

Here is an update to the stuff I'm using for treatment.
I've purchased a plastic tube and have put aluminum foil around it with a strip of foil running the length of it. That strip of foil provides the electrical path for the entire tube and also serves as the point where my alligator clip attaches to.
I used black electrical tape to secure the foil to the tube.

When I do my treatments, I use the chamois wet with the baking soda/salt solution and wrap it around the tube (over the aluminum foil) and secure it with rubber bands at each end of the tube.

Then I can run my rope through the tube and secure it to my body.

The aluminum tray has been working out very well for me.
