Is the grass greener on the other side (job)?

I have a part time job at the moment. It pays pretty well. And most of the time, there isn't much social contact. It's comfortable - almost too comfortable, but there are other more exciting things I would like to do more.

The problem I have at the moment is that I'm in my mid-late 30s, and these other career paths either have low (or non existent) rates of pay (e.g. research) or require studying a whole new degree which would take a lot of time. (Sorry for the vagueness but I didn't feel comfortable sharing exact details.)

So it's a struggle whether to risk giving up what I perceive as a comfy job with little social interaction, for something I enjoy more but would potentially have lower pay as well as possibly more social interaction. Ideally I would be cured of SA and just do what I love, but I haven't got to that stage yet (work in progress).

Any advice or comments from your own experience appreciated.

Maybe you could stick with your current better paying but boring job and use the money to finance the stuff you do enjoy more on your own time? So you'd keep the job and find a way to in some way do the other stuff as well.

Yeah, I dunno. I've only just now started my first ever job out of college, so I have no idea what it's like to really weigh different career paths. I just try to make it through each day.

Not really helpful, but I myself tend to like responses regardless so I thought I'd through something out.

Also, how long have you been at this current job?

Is there a way for you to save up and maybe try to make a slow transition until you find something steady in that area?

I would say do what you love. I can't really offer you helpful advice as I am still new to working.

In the sense of if SA had a sliding scale from Low SA to High SA, falling somewhere in the middle would be considered a cure for someone with high SA.

Two ways to achieve this are either medication or psychotherapy.

Did you reach a decision on what you're going to do?

If you are really unhappy in your job then it is worth considering change. I quit a job I hated and studied environnental studies mature aged. Grass was definately greener.
