I have a part time job at the moment. It pays pretty well. And most of the time, there isn't much social contact. It's comfortable - almost too comfortable, but there are other more exciting things I would like to do more.
The problem I have at the moment is that I'm in my mid-late 30s, and these other career paths either have low (or non existent) rates of pay (e.g. research) or require studying a whole new degree which would take a lot of time. (Sorry for the vagueness but I didn't feel comfortable sharing exact details.)
So it's a struggle whether to risk giving up what I perceive as a comfy job with little social interaction, for something I enjoy more but would potentially have lower pay as well as possibly more social interaction. Ideally I would be cured of SA and just do what I love, but I haven't got to that stage yet (work in progress).
Any advice or comments from your own experience appreciated.
