I expect criticism....

Regardless what I say or think. I always expect to be criticised from others. It is ingrained. I always expect criticism. It's like I am just waiting to be attacked. Does anyone else relate to this?????

no.

haha, come on dude! what do you think people are on this site for? everyone here feels that way to some degree. welcome to the world of social anxiety.

the more i get out and talk to people i don't know personally, the more realistic my mind becomes. i'm pretty sure it can work this way for anyone. also, i'm beginning to learn that if you keep hanging around the same people, you won't see any improvement. and no, i don't make the rules!

anyway, i see a lot of posts on this site just like this one. to everyone who is in doubt: yes, somebody here can definitely relate to you. as a matter of fact, everyone can relate to this post. stop feeling so alone, these are common problems with really simple solutions.

so never lose hope. stop thinking you're so weird for having regular feelings. open up to the world around you and broaden your horizons. after all, it's not the end!

These definitely are common problem with simple solutions, but it's eaier said than done for a lot of people to change the people tey hang out with. A lot of us don't even have anybody to start off with.

I can totally relate with always expecting criticism, just like everyone else here with severe anxiety can. With medication and cognitive behavioral therapy, the severity of most anxiety disorders can be reduced.

A good toke before taking on a feared event often helps me forget about my anxieties, but I know how you feel about that one

Thanks bro for such a well thought out reply. Thanks for that. You know the funny thing is, is this. I am not afraid of physical violence. I am not afraid to fight physically. However when it comes to negative words, I take it personally. The old adage of sticks and stones may break my bones but names wiill never hurt me, applies here. All the best…

If you haven't experienced it's qualities in an environment in which you feel safe, all I have to say to anybody who hasn't tried it is:

"Before you knock it, try it first,
You will see it's a blessing, it's not a curse"

Peace

Responding to below:

Whats the difference between popping a benzo and having a toke? Both are for the same reason. Pot just isn't so damn addicting...

Drugs and alcohol will only make the problem worse, and it's proven that cannabis can cause schizophrenia....Something i don't want on top of my social phobia, but each to their own i guess.

Yes, I can relate to this.

Do you actually get criticized often, or do you just react strongly to it when it happens? Can you give an example?

i understand this feeling. it is so hard because i'm a waitress (UGH) and i feel like my coworkers are criticizing me, my managers, all the customers, the cooks. it is hard, too, because all the customers stare at you the whole time you do your job. it is the most stressful, anxiety inducing thing in the world. i hate it. LOATHE. but it is the only thing that fits around my school schedule and pays decent money.

SilentType give it a rest mate. Dope's called dope cause it turns you into one. You think your relaxed, your tripping, you think you have insight .... its all bullshit. In reality, your eyes are bloodshot, you sit there like a zombie, your "insight" makes no sense to anyone and everyone thinks your a loser

I swear to god man, thats how it is thats the truth dont kid yourself.

And its not a good idea to encourage people with sp to do drugs. It may work for you (or you think it does) but the chances it can work for other people, especially people here, are very low.

dottie I applyed for a job as a waiter once. She gave me a trial. I tripped out !! I had no idea what to do and I was confused as anything. I ended up running down stairs and shooting off in my car after 20 mins I dunno how you do it

AGH, Thanks for that sensible question. To be honest I don't get criticized a lot. To be frank it rarely happens. However due to certain distortions in my thinking (caused through my upbringing) I expect it regularly. For example I could meet a lovely young chap or lady and have a conversation with him or her. It's all going well then out of the blue I could think that he or she was having a go at me. I get on well with most people, but just occasionally I find myself getting quite defensive. Anyone Relate???
