how do you make a friend in class

It seems awkward to say "hey wanna study outside of class" to someone I don't know? Is it better to say something else? Also I go to a commuter school, so no one is really open as much including me. I just want to be able to make a couple friends. As a junior, it may be a little harder too, but people of all ages go there. When I actually get to class I'll probably be too scared or do something awkward to try to make a friend anyway, but it's always good to ask in case a potential friend comes up. ;) Have you made a friend in a college class and how?

There's only one way, talking.

But of course that's easier said than done for people with social anxiety. I say that you should just try to look for people that you may like and try to strike a conversation, just ask what's their name, how they're doing, maybe bring up a common issue like an annoying teacher or an assignment and just take it from there.

But don't think that just having a conversation makes friendships. Don't get ahead of yourself, wait until people know who you are and are comfortable around you, then you can try asking some of them to study after class or whatever.

Just don't put yourself down if you fail at first. It takes time.

It's just kinda hard to determine when that time is lol. I'll just let the other person take the lead if it's meant to be.
