I don't have any hobbies that i know of. What do people on here like to do? I know lots of you play an instrument. I need to find a hobby but theres nothing I can think of.

Recently, I've wanted to start an aquarium with lots or exotic fish and the such but I don't know where to begin. I've got an aquarium in my room but its just your basic thing. I want to do something more complex and exotic looking. Besides this I have no real hobbies. All I do in my free time is watch tv or play xbox or go on the computer. What else is there?

There are things I do to waste time, but I'm definitely not passionate about anything (yet). I kind of play the guitar, but I rarely practice. My hobbies are basically anime and video games, but again, I don't spend a whole lot of time with those either. Lately, I've just been really bored, either doing nothing or looking for something to do on the internet. It's been a long week.

i love art.. been doing a lot of graphics in my freetime. I think for us SA guys its good to look for something with a big community of enthusiastic people rather than something exotic

Think there was a 'hobbies' thread posted a few weeks ago so if you can find it i think there's a lot of good ideas on it.

I've played guitar for about 5 years or so and its one of the greatest discoveries i've made. It's helped me heaps over the years (am 26 now). If you love music (and the sound of guitar) then maybe give it a go. I've just self-taught myself and the good thing is you don't have to be able to read music (which can take ages to learn) and you can play stuff that you like. The actual process of learning a song is satisfying and even more so when you can play the whole thing. Its also really therapeutic, just driving somewhere where no ones around and just playing by yourself.

Anyway, whatever you choose, do it because you enjoy the actual process of doing it. The end result is good and satisfying, but you have to enjoy the journey.

I was always told by docs etc look for a community based hobby, like theater. I was too scared to do anything like that.

As for my hobbies, I don't do much apart from doing something or another with the computers I have here. Be it playing games (although I started playing computer games again, I don't do it as much as I used in my late teens) or fiddling around with Linux etc. But more often I just read about things on the net, mostly tech/computer stuff. This is not good, because my job also revolves around this.

I think not being interested in popular hobbies/activities that others my age are doing doesn't help me reach out, it compounds the problems of me socialising. Lots of people listen to music, although I tend to listen sometimes, its really only when driving. Apart from that most people here (Oz) are mad about sport. Thats something I am neither good at or enjoy watching. I don't know, I don't think I am not aggressive or violent enough to compete or enjoy the tribalism associated with supporting footy, cricket etc. It doesn't interest me.

I should be trying to do more outdoor activities. But its too tempting to hind inside my house. Even though it might not be popular, I should try to do things like photography or hiking at least I like it and it will get me out of the house.

Sounds like me... searching the internet or just really bored. I do like to draw and I do like to watch animes but I don't do much of either. Drawing takes too much time and concentration and I don't really see the point since I don't have anyone to share it with anyway. Though I'm fairly good when I do do it. I like animes but I often feel I should be doing something better with my time so I started having a hard time finishing em.

Now if I'm drawing something for someone else... I have a goal, a direction, and if I like the idea, I'll put my all into it until its perfect.

Is reading considered a hobby? Apart from that I love to skate. I'm also huge on music making (which consumes all of the time i'm not working), but that's not a hobby. It's a passion. :D

Could sleeping be a hobbie? It's something, I realy enjoy and am good at. Also I like to drink and surf the internet. Is that a hobbie?

I agree- sleeping is a great hobby and something I have a great talent for! Another of my favourites is staying up all night on my computer and then watching the dawn come and listening to the birds singing- it's so peaceful when most other people are asleep and there's no sounds of neighbours shouting at eachother or playing terrible music.

my main hobbies are: songwriting, wax carving (until I use up all the candles in the living room). I was pretty into cycling, but haven't ridden my bike in ages. I've suddenly become absolutely obsessed with motorbikes- I need one. but don't have the money. so my main hobby at the moment is drooling over the kawasaki website. :(

I try to play guitar, i also used to be a keen cyclist but i have no energy. I seem to have a pattern of giving up on stuff as soon as i find myself failing.

My hobbies are:

Powerball
Going for walks in the woods
Watching TV-shows that I download after their air in the US
Chatting with people in other time zones (screwing up my sleep pattern)
Swimming in a lake, as often as possible. (I need a friend to drive me there)
Exploring the internet, and my computer.

Be happy if you have a non-computer hobby. Computers makes your wrists hurt. Mine has started to do now in later times.

Try and pick a hobby that involves some degree of social interaction - obviously the more the better but do what you feel comfortable with. I think carpentry would be a good hobby - I don't mean making chairs and tables, but smaller things, maybe small boxes you could give as gifts.
