I guess if you work towards having things pan out for you, then that's the battle sliding in your favour. My best friend tends to get his own way a lot but he works hard for it.

I don't think that statement (although quoted a lot) is true. You can do everything that it's possible for you to do in order to steer the odds in your favour, but ultimately luck is just that...luck.

I agree, and that's kind of what I was getting at. You can try to skew the results in your favour, so luck has a better chance of coming your way.
