What's Scary?

Something I don't like much, is living alone, for the last few years. I think it contributes more to the deep SA feeling...

Music is always good. Having TV on can be helpful, as the closest I can get to someone to speak to, although very annoying.

I write this now, when things get horrifyingly quiet. Around the apartments where I live, there is usually someone making noise. Even the washing machine or fridge add to sound, and sirens outside and motorbikes whizzing past really loudly.

The worst is when the washing machine stops, leaving pure silence, that grips me in a brief panic at a moment when everything is dead, and I tend to get into a zombie state, staring at something, like a bare wall.

Does anyone get that?

Oh gosh, I actually *wish* to be living alone right now!! lol!!

It depends how you view solitude... (And if you've ever lived with your parents or any annoying roommates/flatmates for long?? hehe..)

It's always good to have some places and people (or animals) one can go to... eg places you can go volunteer, even just take a dog for a walk etc.

I know what you mean with silence being freaky a bit, I lived in a scary attic as a teenager and every creak and noise used to make me shudder sometimes lol.. so silence is good imo!! lol!

Can you find a book to read or something? Then you won't even hear what's around... :)

I've recently been reading a lot of good books, having an occasional break from jobhunting, and putting up with recruiters phoning me all day looooooong.

I'd love to get a cat

Cats are COOL!! :)

If you want anything loud, maybe get a chirping bird tho? :) (They may be a bit noisy though, yikes.. Can I send you ours? :))

I feel for you, my friend. Living alone with SA can be scary, for sure. But I bet it would be less lonely if you were talking on the phone or on Skype with a friend, or having a few friends over to watch the game, etc. A lot of people live alone, but they're not really ALONE that much... and that's why they're fine with it.

I have a suggestion: why not join some sort of club or activity to keep yourself busy after work? It can be as simple as a gym, or it could be some sort of charity organization. You can meet a lot of people there who you can talk to :)

I live alone at the moment and I am still trying to get use to it.
I work really long hours during the week so that helps to break up the monotomy.if it wasn't for that I think I would find it pretty hard to deal with.
