Hi there im member of SPW for a while now ,im suffering with anxiety, but now and again i have periods in life for weeks or months, where everyday life becomes really depressing, and usually it comes and goes fast and i didn't felt that bad for a while now,and several weeks ago it started again,i have problems with sleeping ,i don't sleep properly and always wake up irritated and angry/depressed,no matter if it was 8 or 12 hour sleep, also i experience a lot of mood swings from partly happy to nearly crying and deeply depressed in loops of minutes, when im at work,i feel like i gonna start crying any minute and feeling of despair and physical pain just follows me through day all the week, and ive no one to turn to,i don't want to go to see a doctor or tell my parents, although i give them hints that im going through a rough period, but it seems they care about themselves, which makes me more angry towards them, although im 25 years old,its still really hard to live my own independent life.I believe theres a few new topics everyday in here about someones rant, and unhappiness, but i will appreciate all the support and tips i can get.

Hi doesit, I think that its important to get the support of the people around you, as well as from here, so if hints aren't working then tell your parents directly. In my experience, having people not know seems to make it worse. If depression is an ongoing problem then its time to see the doctor, and start on the way to recovery, which would probably mean some therapy and maybe medication. What sort of work are you doing, and why don't you want to go to the doctor?

Like everybody who suffers with SA, you need to find something else to focus on besides yourself. The more we focus on ourselves and our problems, the worse we feel. It's impossible to make yourself happy by trying to make yourself happy. Try instead to make somebody else happy, and see what happens.

Carol. You've got it. You've solved it. How did you know that? Why has it taken me 12 years for me to realise that? I don't know how to do it, but I know I have to.

Quite possibly the most profound thing I've heard in a while.

Hey doesit. :) What you described is basically what I've been going through lately. My sleeping hasn't been great, so I wake up irritated/depressed. But I've also noticed that even when I do get 8 - 10 hours of sleep, I still feel the same. I experience tons of mood swings as well. In one day, I can feel everything from happiness, sadness, irritation, to just plain anger. Sometimes it feels like everyday is an emotional rollercoaster. These periods tend to last me at least 2 weeks, if not longer. I've been hiding these things from my parents for a while now, but it's really starting to take a toll on me. I'm getting quite close to actually just telling them as I can't really handle it anymore.

^ Definitely this. When I find myself focusing too much on my issues, like this past week, I try to keep myself busy to take my mind of everything. Trying to make other people happy helps too. :)

thanks everyone for your support and advise,i believe that all of us realize at some point in life that there's so much more to life and most of us have so much in life that others dream of having or cant, and yet we still find time to be depressed about ourselves :) .

What you described pretty much describes how I feel - Sometimes I'll feel like I'm on top of the world and then five minutes later I wanna kill myself. i think we all just need to take Carol's advice! Life's too short to spend it being unhappy!
