Do any of you have irrational fears or thoughts?

Like....I was just in the shower, and I heard someone make a loud noise...and the rest of the time all I could think about was someone going on a killing spree and walking into each apartment where I live and shooting them...The entire time I was waiting for someone to bust into the bathroom and kill me. I tried to shower as fast as possible and kept looking out the curtain.

Or, I hate walking alone at nite because I'm terrified I'll be raped.
Or, I have constant thoughts of being in car crashes whenever I drive, over and over.
A lot are of someone dying that's really close to me.

It's just like I have some thought, and then really build it up in my head and can't stop thinking about it, and sometimes they are things that are completely absurd...like someones head exploding in class.

Maybe these thoughts are more common than I know, I have more than these..I was just wondering if you guys have these same thoughts?
Hopefully, because now I feel crazy.

I hope this makes sense...I'm terrible at explaining myself.

I hate having my bedroom door open at night. I always think someone is gonna break in and stab me(since no one has guns around here and stabbing is a painful death).

Welcome to the crazy part of the population ;)

I'm lost with the head exploding thing lol. But I can relate to everything else you said. I usually have a fear of dying in a car crash or having someone close to me die in a car crash. One time I actually had a dream that my brother died in a car crash. I was standing over his body in a morgue. I had that dream like 6 yrs ago and I still never forgot about it! (i usually 4get most of my dreams). I also have a terrible fear of dogs. I get paranoid whenever I'm walkin outside bcus I always picture a dog chasing me & then mauling the hell outta me! Lol. But I think that's bcus alotta ppl around my way have pitbulls and they sometimes leave them outside unattended.

Lately I've been having thoughts (and even 1 or 2 dreams) that my daddy is gonna die soon from a heart attack. I don't like to tell ppl about these thoughts bcus I don't want ppl to think I'm crazy. But yeah, I have them A LOT! IDK, sometimes I feel like if I keep preparing for the worst, I can prevent it from happening. You know that ol' cliche saying, "never say never"? Lol. Well, I never say "never" for that reason lol. IDK, I guess that's our way of trying to control the future bcus we're so afraid of what lies ahead of us. No one is guaranteed to be here tomorrow and nothing in life is guaranteed to turn out good, and that's what makes life so scary.

.

Yes, I think it's called "pure-O", pure obsessive disorder. It's caused by anxiety, that is, if you keep worrying about everything, you will start to worry about stuff you make up too. I often have it. The solution is to avoid worrying about such things, and realize it's just stuff you make up in your head because you feel anxious, uncomfortable, bored, tired, you are easily scared, etc. In fact, you must have noticed that when you are distracted and you are doing something you really enjoy, you don't have such thoughts.
So just accept them. If you let yourself get scared by them, you'll get more, because they are caused by your fear itself, and the more you worry the more new stupid thoughts you'll get, as if you liked to worry and your mind gave you new stuff to worry about. Good luck. :)
