Are There Any Nurses Here?

I'm leaning toward becoming a RN but worrying if that would be the best career for someone with SA.

Is anyone on here a RN or thinking about/currently going to college for nursing?

Is being a RN really hard to do with social anxiety? I'm fine with asking the patient if they need anything/getting things for them/taking care of them but I was just wondering if anyone here could tell me what it's like?

I was thinking of becoming a nurse as well... deferred a uni course. Some situations I am not affected by social anxiety, such as when helping people. I think the job satisfaction would be very high as well.

If it´s what you want to do, then do it. Don´t take SA in consideration, or you might regret it later.

As for the job satisfaction though, social workers have one of the highest burn out rates, because it´s quite psychically demanding. They are usually idealistic and have high hopes at the beginning about helping people but then they find out it is much more complicated and not everything runs the way they imagined..

To say this I still think you should go for it. This job has plenty of advantages and there is no shortage of jobs.

I used to be pre-nursing but quit a few years ago. It just wasn't the career for me. I volunteered at the hospital and did a nursing assistant course before I came to this realization. I wasted some time and money in the process. I highly recommend volunteering at a hospital or shadowing a nurse just so you have a feel of what nursing is like and whether you have a calling for it.

Thank you!! I'll try that before applying for a college!
