Acupuncture

Ok, so today was my first acupuncture appointment. The Dr. basically told me I have a weak liver and kidneys, the liver causes heat and kidneys cool down this heat, so he's going to strengthen both and he gave me some herbs and gave me my first acupuncture session. It it for 30 mins and he stuck needles at certain points in my hands, arms, and feet. I also did some research on the internet and will give him my findings, basically chinese medicine names that help with internal heat. One is called si ni san and the other mai men dong tang, and i will tell him about the pressure points PC 4, Lu 6, St 44, Liv 2, and GB 34. My next appointment is on friday. When I went to him my hands and feet were sweating, but about 5 mins after sticking the needles in me the sweating stopped.

I am going all out recently on trying to just rid myself of my hh and focusing on my work and living healthy. I am waking up at 6 am and staying at work till 7 pm. I am neglecting workout but tomorrow I plan on going back to working out from 7 till 9 and I can watch a movie or play a game to chill at night. I might be getting botox for my hands next week, but I will see before if acupuncture is really helping out. I really want to cure this and I don't like taking oral tablets like avert/ditropan or going for ETS. I will keep you guys updated and will tell you if this helps.

Oh, and I asked him if he cured anyone with this, he told me he didn't get lots of these cases but one was a preacher who had severe palm sweating and told him it was ruining his life and he had to travel in 2 months. He said he cured him and the preacher then sent other patients to him because he strongly believed in him after. Here's hoping.

I know a guy who knows a guy who's cousin has a brother who is a preacher and can cure our HH with snake oil... for a price. Keep us informed how the acupuncture works out for you. I don't recall reading in any of the forums of any major success with this type of treatment. I think I'll just order a new body after I sweat the old one away.

hehehehe

it's ok I understand how ppl won't believe in this

I am very skeptical about it anyway

But at least I'll have used up all my options

Keep us informed on how it goes. I've alway been very curious abour accupunture. I don't have problems with sweating like you do, but I wonder if it could help with relaxation, and help with anxiety...

well i do feel a bit more relaxed so I think it does help in that area. I am still skeptical if it can help with sweating or else there would have been much more success stories and i've never read about a success story concerning hh. Maybe I can be a first? I really don't mind if it doesn't work since I just wanna try anything other than ETS, and since I have been looking into natural treatments I think this suits me. The theory he provided behind why I sweat has a good sound to it, but every form of medicine has its own theories.

Still, I will try for at least a month of acupuncture and inform back after each session.

I don't know much about this but acupuncture is all about improving circulation...which seems to be our problem (at least in part) so it makes sense to me that it should work. If there's too much chi (energy) stuck in one area then it can cause imbalances in other parts of the body...there was a thread a little while back about stimulating the nerves in the spine that are responsible for HH and the person who posted it thought this may be a cure...to me acupuncture seems like it's founded on the same principle.

I haven't researched any of this...just going on very little knowledge and the implications of these methods...

But anyways, did it hurt? How many needles did he use?
I am very intrigued by this method and I believe that it can work if done right...again, only because the reasoning is sound. People in the western world usually scoff at eastern techniques because they're founded on principles we have no idea about. We usually feel we must go some drastic route like having surgery or consuming man-made concoctions we were never meant to ingest...we have all kinds of crazy side effects ("I was so dizzy! The world got blurry! I couldn't poop for a week!") and yet we're absolutely ecstatic and consider these things "a cure." haha...

Don't get me wrong...I am in the same boat as most Americans and live a fast-pace, very urban, very western lifestyle and I don't have time for researching much or visiting acupuncturists or herb docs or anything. So for me...right now I reach for Robinul (in moderation) and try to stay away from foods that induce sweating.

This became a rant. Sorry about that...anyways, it feels good ;)

oh, and the needles don't hurt one bit, they just tingle when inserted and after have a calming effect. I thought they were gonna hurt bt i was mistaken. The needles are very thin and when i look at myself with all the needles sticking out of me i feel like one of these ppl that walk on nails haha. I think there were about 16 needles overall, i'll update today with the correct number

Hmm, today's session was nt bad. I am not sweating atm, and i'm not sure if it's placebo or acupuncture actually working. However, I doubt it's placebo since things never really worked for my hyperhidrosis that way. My next session is on Monday. It needs time to work properly, so i'll keep posting updates. Btw, I suggest reading complementary medicine for dummies, it has lots of alternative medicine that i feel can help aid with nt just hh but a better healthier longer life.

How has it been for you? I am one that tries out eastern medication to solve sweating. I've been to four eastern doctor in China taking oral medication, one actually worked for a while but it regressed again even though I continued taking that particular medication. These are usually herbs that are boiled and drank.

I am toying with the idea of acupuncture too.

I am still going to him. So far I think I had 6 sessions with no results. He told me you'll have to give it at least 2 months or so. I will do it since I have nothing to lose. I'm also boiling some herbs. It contains 12 kinds of herbs, the one which I remember is called Rehmannia. I will try and get you the names tomorrow

yeaps, it's true that acupuncture usually takes awhile. I remember when my aunt went for one, it was also two months. It helped her alot, though not HH related.

I can copy you my prescription of the chinese herbs if you want, though you'll need to go to one that reads chinese (I am sure they do)

he definitely reads chinese.

I can print it out for him.

I am getting botox on my tuesday tho. If it doesn't fix anything, at least i hope it (acupuncture) can help with compensatory sweating and the ****ing body heat
