Xanax

Anyone here use xanax? How often do you take it? What dosages you take? How does it affect you?

I saw my doc yeasterday, and asked for xanax for the most difficult situations... Today I tried it first time, and took 1 mg 30 minutes before my therapy session (as the doctor advised me to do).

It made me feel as I was drunk. I was somehow bit clumsy. My speech went very slurred, I noticed it clearly myself too. The therapist asked, if I had took something, and said that it it was obvious (my intention initially was to test, if he would notice that I had taken this drug...). I had hard time talking, because my "short-time memory" got worse, I kinda lived only at present moment.

And no, it didnt help me much with the actual social phobia. It made me a somehow more confident shopping, but it definitely was not a "miracle cure", as someones describe. (Or actually most of all I fear talking to my friends and acquistances, and I didnt get a change to do that today...)

I'm not sure, if I'm going to start to use it. I think if I would want to get some results, I would need to take at least this much, but I definitely dont want to see out drunk in the middle of the day...

I'm so dissapointted, I though xanax would have done its part to help me to break this vicious cycle... ::(:

Sa is ruining my life, but I still prefer looking anxious than drugged...

Give Xanax another try. First time benzo use is usually abnormal side effects, these go away with sustained use. ;)

First time I tried Ativan I passed out and was so retarded the next day i couldnt even play cards. Now I use Klonopin(another benzo) and I feel no side effects from it, it just calms me down perfectly :)

Any benzo is gonna make you feel a little tipsy at first. Usually a first timer gets prescribed .5mg dosage, so you should probably try that too. You've just got to give it some time and let your body get used to it. The side effects disappear in less than a week most of the time.

I've been prescribed benzos for over 2 years and currently take 1.5mg of xanax 3 times per day to lock down my panic disorder. It really doesn't help very much, but it's the best my psychiatrist can do i guess...

I have them, but I don't really use them. I don't find them helpful, they don't take away my anxiety. However, they are good sleeping pills...

Xanax Tablets, if they occur, are generally observed at the beginning of therapy and usually disappear upon continued medication.
The data cited in the two tables below are estimates of untoward clinical event incidence among patients who participated under the following clinical conditions: relatively short duration placebo-controlled clinical studies with dosages up to 4 mg/day of Xanax for the management of anxiety disorders or for the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety and short-term placebo-controlled clinical studies with dosages up to 10 mg/day of Xanax in patients with panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.

Xanax does not relieve my anxiety. Ativan does not help either. I have found the only thing that helps me is Klonopin.

That's why there are so many different kinds of benzodizepines. One drug doesn't help everyone, but if you try a few different ones, you find the one that works best for you.
