Dont look at them. Just listen, have your say, whatever, glance at them every now and again.

What your saying theres no answer to know what im saying ? The only answer is to lower you anxiety level and feel more comfortable, and then it will come natural.

Why do you feel as though you have to hold constant eye contact with someone ?

I hade the same problem before.
tommy, don't stick to a very strict standard of "look" ,"don't look" or "which eye to look", just going with the flow of you mind. If you are too afraid, just don't look at them, if you feel OK, just look at them, choose the most comfortable way

I used to get paranoid staring into people's eyes because i felt like i was 'drilling a hole' into them with mine. Now I just look generally at their mouth/nose, and glance up to their eyes for a few seconds here and there. Nothing is 'planned' it's just a natural thing. Doesn't matter which eye, both i guess.

Dont tell me dude

I think its a cultural thing too. Were you from ?

In Australia, people make eye contact in some situations, you know depending, but in general relaxed conversation, people make eye contact here and there, its normal. Dont feel pressured if you dont feel comfortable, the most important thing for people with a SP is to be around people, not to sweat the details, like i said before, that will come.

I know in China, and India, staring at people in general, is perfectly normal. Here, youl get a punch in the mouth, there, you can sit and and stare, its just how it is, isnt that interesting ?

Ok. This is a trick that I have heard certain people use. Basically just look at the tip of their nose and it looks like you're looking in their eyes. When you start thinking about these things too much that's when you start having problems lol.

Avoiding eye contact all together is bad advice, IMO. Sometimes I glance somewhere else while I'm talking to someone because I have trouble thinking of what to say while maintaining eye contact, but it's not really right to just look away while they're talking. They don't care which eye you're looking into.
