Hey everyone im 20 years old and suffer from social anxiety. Iv never been diagnosed but I have asked the doctor and he recommended meds, which im not to fond of. I believe it started when i was 15 and just got worse. My first epsiode was when walking into the gym of my highschool and we were doing a project and all the girls started clapping and some were calling me over..all of a sudden boom face starts going red and I didnt understand why and i started freaking out and hid on the stage until it stopped lol. Even when i was talking to people in class my face would just go red for no reason and at the time it didnt make me nervous or anything, but once i started to notice it it got worse. Eventually i stopped socializng as much and juss hung out with a couple close friends. I use to be very talkative etc etc now I cant control my nerves and always have the thought of it going red. Maybe i do need meds?

I dunno, I've had it aswell since i was around 14 and I'm 20 now, it's just gotten bad the last two years or so. I don't believe in medication. I'm now getting better with the help of a good therapist (I tried a few until i found the right one) and by gradually getting back out there and finding my confidence.
I've never tried any meds and I feel like I'm making fine progress without them. But it's totally up to you! Meds CAN be good, but I don't think you should ONLY go on meds, you need to deal with your emotional issues too.
Hope you get better!
