What's everyone doing at the moment to try to overcome SA and how is it going for you??

I've just started a, well i guess spiritual therapy but is actually a very effective psychology. Only had one session but so far going good!

Also planning on taking something natural for depression, and having hypnoanalysis to get rid of those nasty childhood memories.

It's cool to see all the things everyone else is doing to get rid of their SA. Keep it up, you guys :)

I'm not doing anything drastic here, just learning how to meditate and sort of getting in touch with my higher self, if you will (lol). Sounds cheesy, right? And this is coming from someone who never used to believe in that 'spiriual journey' shit :). In fact, I'm still a little skeptical ;)
But most of my awkwardness is completely gone now and I don't get nearly as nervous as I used to. I don't feel depressed anymore, my self esteem went up. Maybe there's something to this afterall...

Aha! I wished all those other guys who are talking about ending their lives would read your post. Way to go Vancouver (love that city by the way).
Vancouver would you PLEASE share your routine with others?
I nominate you member of the month. I like your post to flake.
You are much younger than I am and I really get a sense that positive things gravitate towards you.

For those interested, this guy has been an inspiration in my life: shinzen.org

I go to a psychiatrist every month to get some medication (clonazepam and propanolol). The medication helps keep my muscles relaxed and my heart rate slow. Whenever I feel anxiety coming, I slow my breathing down, inhaling deep and exhaling slow. Other than that I just try to find out everything I can.

Peace

Ive done a bunch of things over the years to help with SA from spiritual to physical therapies. The best thing by far is to be interacting with other people as much as you can.
Right now, ive been to see some psychologists (talk therapy) and am lookin forward to my next appointment. Im also experimenting with deep alpha state meditation and breathing techniques all of which are superb for immediate relaxation. Highly reccomended! :)

I write in my journal (which is not really a journal, It's rather that I write on any scrap of paper that happens to lay around).

Great guys, it is cool to see such a range of methods working for people :D

I'm quite surprised how many people are trying meditation and spiritual stuff, including me. Maybe time to post that thread okk

Let me know how they all progress....

I've been going to a counsellor for the past 2 years it started at once a week but now its once every 2nd week. I thought that it wasnt really doing that much but I looked back and realised that I have come a long way from where I started from YAY :D lol I would recommend going to a counsellor to everyone but you have to find the right one for you so look around lol ... Also I feel relaxation plays a very important part in overcoming SP or SA. I read a great book called 15 steps to overcome anxiety and depression by Iris Barrow suggested to me by my counsellor...
The steps are
1 Relaxation
2 Daily exercise
3 Replacing negative thoughts with positive
4 Coping with panic and feelings of fear
5 Accepting and expressing your feelings
6 Using your imagination to work for you
7 The importance of eating sensibly
8 Letting go of anxiety
9 Facing and overcoming problems
10 Taking constructive action despite negative feelings
11 Build your self-esteem and affirm yourself
12 Set your goals and motivate yourself
13 Meet your own needs
14 Think and act well-not sick
15 Have a realistic expectation of yourself

At the mo I'm doing a thing called Stress Inoculation
