The good news is that OCD sufferers tend to be highly intelligent. Yay. A silver lining.
I am a scientist and a writer.
What do you do?

Health care. Actually, before my diagnosis, the place I had the least OCD was in office. If I kept my mind busy, I did really well. Once I was home with new babies and then doing part time work, the stuff got a lot worse (probably due to hormone changes too). Since diagnosis, I take meds and psychotherapy and I am doing great.
We are hard to treat because of how intelligent we are; we are engineers, scientists, health care professionals-once we feel good we try to get off the meds. I tried that and it just doesn't work for me (despite the $170 per hour fee I pay for psychotherapy! and all the cognitive work I do). I love my meds and am quite happy to take them forever. I had enough trauma from the 25 years I went undiagnosed. I don't want to give up my (mostly) quiet mind.:
