What does this mean???

Hello All - I originally posted this before in the wrong place by mistake.

I have a question....

One of the things my shy guy at work USE TO DO when he would walk into a room and approach me was he would sometimes go over to the window first and look out, it seems he would have to stand there for a few minutes before turning around to say something to me.

And...if someone spoke to him..just to say hello even..it was as if he couldn't hear them, like for those few minutes he was in his own world.

He has done this in the past whenever he would come into my classroom (i run an after school program) or if he saw me in the staff lounge..he'd immediately walk to the window and if anyone tried to talk to him while he was doing this, its like he'd ignore them but yet when he was done..he'd come over to say whatever it was he needed to say to me as if no one else was around and then leave immediately!!!!!!

What is that exactly that he was doing??? It looked as if he was doing breathing exercise???

Thank you.

I noticed he would do that whenever he would want to talk to me or tell me something work related, i guess thats what it was. He'd need his time to gather his thoughts.

He seemed to ''rehearse" what he wa going to say as well, at least thats how it looked. I would just smile and listen when he would talk (after he turned around) and try to make him comfortable.

I always wished i could do something to help him, but i guess the more we are around one another the better it got for him..so i really don't see him doing it that much, once in awhile still he will take a second before we talk but then he seems fine. His anxiety just getting the best of him i guess.

Does anyone else do this? What would help you get rid of these feelings?

I would stay and try to help him work it out.

I have always said as long as he tries and shows me he is interested in me and wants to be with me i was willing to be there for him and help him anyway i could.

I've been doing it now, just as his coworker..giving him space when he needs it and showing him i care when he can handle it. I am trying not to scare him off but at the same time i am doing things to show i care about him and think he's special.
