What do you think of this?

Some say, in cases of panic attacks or extreme fear, you can seek relief by simply submitting to the fear/panic - or rather, by even purposely intensifying these feelings. Though one would think this would make the condition worse, quite the contrary actually applies - and through the constant use of this method, panic attacks can be eliminated and fears can be released.

Apparently the science of this method is that you're never actually afraid of what you think you are. Usually, you are merely afraid of experiencing fear. Thus, the human mind does everything it can to eliminate pain - or in this case, avoiding extreme fear or panic - and you become afraid of nothing more than the experience of fear.

So if you've had a bad experience in an area of life, maybe the best thing to do is to confront it - or even intensify it. What do you think about all of this? It's very interesting, so I'm wondering what others (especially on this forum) think about this.

Interesting.

To not only confront it but to seek fear? Truth be told its a thought I find much easier than oh lets say, avoid/survive/escape. I'm a bit of an emotion junkie of the darker varity you see and enjoy the flavour should I see it in a different light.

But the pain, the almost choking agony of fear (of fear even) is hard to bypass. None the less, I will attempt to consider this next time I feel the bile rising so to speak, hopefully it will be... different.

On another note I used this with anxiety, its a funny feeling pushing it on, physically painful even from the bloodrush but unfortunately almost never works but fall into a routine of high-low-high-low anxiety.

I guess "The greatest thing to fear is fear its self" is true in this respect. Or of course, passing out should it go too far ^^.
