I've never been in a relationship but I prefer the idea of interracial dating, it's so much more interesting to learn about different cultures.![]()
People always seem to try to pair you up with those of your own race though.
That's because people are naturally more attracted to others who look like them. Even in platonic relationships, people tend to group with their own races. I think it's a part of human nature (survival instinct or what have you) to want to associate with people who you perceive to be like you.
I notice it around my university campus and both my home town and my college town. I don't think there are many people who are racist at all, and of course there's some interracial mingling, but for the most part, black people tend to be in groups with other blacks, whites are in groups with other whites, etc. It doesn't mean they wouldn't openly invite someone of another race to join them, but they just tend to go off with people who look like them.
Some people think it's sad but personally, I'm pretty indifferent. As long as people don't separate into groups as a result of hate, then my attitude is "eh...it happens."
