My personal experience is that the side-effects are horrible. It is sad to hear someone say they have been on them for 20 years and that they think they will be taking them the rest of their life. I dont trust them at all and I think the medical profession loves to push them on anyone and everyone. In some cases they make people feel worse. They even mention a possible side-effect being more thoughts about suicide, anxiety or depression....what the hell? But if they work for you or anyone else or you think you need them, by all means do what you must.

Im on wellbutrin and my wife is on celexa.

I originally was on celexa myself, the only side effects i mostly noticed were during the break-in period, it was extremely hard to think, i had a bad brain fog going on for a good 2 weeks. I also noticed a weight gain of about 20 pounds. I also wasnt able to...perform in bed. Hence why i switched to wellbutrin. Once i got put on wellbutrin i actually didnt have any side effects, save for not being as sad for no reason all the time.

I still DO get minor bouts of depression. Antidepressants are not a magic pill to make depression go away, but they DO make it MUCH more manageable, enough for me in my case to function in everyday life at least.

My wife had BAD mood swings and major depressive episodes in the past. for her, celexa really made a difference.

Personally, id rather have to take a pill every day and be able to have some semblence of a normal life then live that way.

IMO most are created to make the big phamacutical companies billions of dollars and most are VERY unsafe and there are far better other cures that actually work without side effects and that don't stay in your system for ever and cause even worse problems.

not to mention the kickbacks Drs get from scriprting them.but that seems to be the 'norm' now a days...not for me..i just wouldn't take them ..i know lots of people that do and they sure don't seem to be getting any better...

you gotta do what you gotta do though I guess.

*disclaimer..this is my personal opinion and I am in no way telling people what they should or shouldn't injest.
