AHHHHH so everytime i go out my voice sounds childish and weird. It's not my real voice and idk what to do. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm an adult and i sound like a kid with low self esteem who can't make decisions when i go out all the time.... ::(:

That happens to me on occasion. It's a lack of confidence when speaking. If I'm feeling unsure of myself, or what I'm talking about, then I tend to speak very softly or with a chance in my voice tone. You must be confident when you speak. Even if you say little, say it with confidence and say it clearly. If you do that in little bits and pieces, it will help you overall when speaking to others, or saying things in public.

I know exactly what you mean. Like sometimes if I go out to eat somewhere, when answering questions, or talking to the waiter/waitress I'll catch myself talking low or "mumbling" because I'm afraid that others will hear me and then stare at me lol. So I try to remember to always speak clearly so that people hear me the first time and I sound confident, or "normal" to others.

So like I sad, even if you don't say much just speak clearly and you might see that it gets easier to talk like yourself in those situations. Hope this helps!

I do this also but I'm also worried that I will speak with different accents that aren't my natural one by mistake I'm convinced I'm doing it even though people tell me I'm not it's crazy!

I guess i know what u are talking about. It happens to me often 2. When u spent so much time trying to be not heard...is hard to make others hear when we want...as we want....the easy way to defeat that...is just trainning at some situation....feel more confident before speaking....be more assertive, be less anxious....be you as u know....

Yep this helps ty! I feel alone with this around here so it's nice to know someone can understand with experiance also. Yeah i feel like people are looking/listening at me when i order too. I sometimes end up saying the easist food to say just to make it simple.. It would be a nighmare to be a waiter/waitress though.... because there are times i can't understand the words someone is saying when im nervous :/ YAA anyway just went to starbucks alone and ordered with no repeats of the order so there's some practice! :D

True all through public school i think i had selective mutism or something so now im trying to make friends because when i meet someone who doesn't have this it makes me realize how much time i spent alone and its odd >.> Hope it gets better for you too

Good job @ Starbucks! When I'm able to communicate without having to repeat myself, I feel a sense of accomplishment lol. People don't understand that we go through these things, and that little situations like that can make us feel better!

Haha yay. Yaa i don't think a lot of people would congradulate me on ordering a drink at Starbucks but true, it does feel like a victory. The moment the cashier gives the change, recipt back, etc. i just think.... wow communication just took place and it worked! ::p:
