I get alot of uncomfortableness in talking and not being able to get the words out of your mouth, is this a symptom of social phobia? I find it uncomfortable talking to people and as if i have trouble getting the words out and when i do i sound to myself almost like a robot or somethin :(

yeah! i recommend that you try drinking more if you dont drink, it can help boost your confidence when everything else seems to fail, also try to exercise your breathing, check out my Relaxation thread, it might help

Drinking is probably not the best way to handle it.Yea I have the same problem as you when I get really nervous rko74 .I have problem getting words out of my mouth when I talk to some people or I sound weird.A lot of people with social phobia have that problem. All I can say is practice practice. :(

whatever you do...DONT depend on drinking to help you solve your problem!!! thats like the worst pssible thing. The reason you have anxiety is from maladaptive behavior (maladaptive meaning how you react is not a healthy response), so covering up an already maladaptive behavior with yet another maladaptive behavior (aka drugs or alcohol) will just cause you to spiral down an even steeper spiral and make your recovery even harder.

Since you cant drink 24/7, depending on drinking to function in situations isNOT smart.

I completely relate to what youre talking about though. I suffer from an even more specific form of social anxiety, performance anxiety. Meaning any time I am put on the spot (which to me this is pretty much anytime people talk to me), I react in with anxiety. Its not fun at all. Read the post in the social anxiety forum called "How do I change my attitude" This is what has helped me cope through this.

Social phobia shouldn't be viewed as a symptom that you have all of a sudden for no reason. It's the inconfidence and it depends on what you're insecure of to be a threat. Anything can be a 'symptom' of social phobia if you have anxiety in "social" situations. Though a part of it could be genetic, not sure how that works.
