Think happy thoughts

On second thought, scratch that. Sorry for starting the thread. Its probably not helpful to make fun of the old treatment formula. Sarcasm is really cheap. Sorry for using it. You guys know what I mean. Treatment does not offer any immediate relief and sometimes you really need that. Thanks to those who replied to it though. Its nice to know a few people know what I'm getting at.

True, but the hard part is consistently thinking happy thoughts. I don't agree with always doing things you hate though.

It's not about ignoring or trying to avoid the unhappy/bad thoughts; it's about not letting them get to you, to accept them and let them wander around inside of you as much as they want. Eventually, they'll go away. It's impossible for bad or unhappy thoughts to stop existing.

If you think happy thoughts and do all the things you hate, it will all go away. Enjoy.

I love how you make it sound so simple, lol.
On a serious note though, I think that's very true. When I'm feeling really down I usually try to think of all the things that I AM thankful for. (my family, my health, the fact that I live in a wonderful country). But that only lasts for a short period of time, lol. And then the negative thoughts starts pouring in all over again

So then I have to start the process all over again... Feel like shi*. Cry/ feel sorry for myself. Think of all the things I'm grateful for. Feel good for 30min. And then, feel like shi* again ::(:

Exactly. Trying to think happy thoughts all the time doesn't pan out. Learning to accept that a certain thought and feeling is there, but learning not to be trapped by it is what works in the long term.

I did a meditation course where they told us to allow the negative thought for a split second and then learn to push it aside and move to another more positive thought!

But i dont think i have that much control over my brain hahah
