There should be a rehab place for people like us

Think of all the people who have social phobias, nervous problems, panic attacks, and general anxiety. I'm in therapy and it helps, but to be honest, one day a week is not good enough for people who are trying to rebuild their life and beat SA. I mean, I haven't had a friend in 3 years or a job in 6 months. It's a scary and uphill battle to go from sitting at home going to therapy once a week, and working on CBT to getting a fulltime job and socializing with people again. A rehab place would be great. Instead of battling SA all by yourself, you would have other people in the same situation that you could talk to and expose yourself to new situations. Then as you take steps like getting a new job or even minor ones such as going to a crowded place, you have people who can support you and know how you feel. It's pretty exhuasting fighting SA when you have no one to talk to. I feel so isolated from the world at this point. A place like this would be great.

you can check yourself into a hospital. that is what happens if you are hospitalized. they make you go to group, do CBT, do theraputic activities. in-patient treatment can be scary because you are locked up with totally irrational people who have violent outbursts. as an out-patient you would go to the hospital for the day (like 9-4, maybe), go to different group sessions throughout the day, go to the cafeteria, you aren't locked inside. the people in out-patient are more stable and relatable compared to the ones who are locked up. if you go to out-patient you won't even see the in-patients so you don't have to worry about them- they keep them totally seperate. anxiety problems are pretty prevalent so there will probably be at least one other socially inept/anxious/panicy person there. most people are there for depression. it's really, really boring but i recommend out-patient treatment if you feel like you need rehab. that is exactly what it is.

ask your therapist about an out-patient program. tell her/him you feel you need more intense treatment. they can probably recommend hospitals (preferably in a nicer area).
