The girl who saw

The invisible man who took a stand
With unseen hands and futile plans
His smile but lent and a back now bent
And failure it seems must be but when

Though seasons come and seasons went
A love unspent for a mind too sane
He'd try again and to his great pain
They couldn't see for his perfect blend

The masks he's worn, a cover of fear
And failure's path, walked year by year
He's sworn his rant, his rise draws near
And the only rise, but bills and rent

So a love unspent, unseen, unheard
And a faith that's spent, has been and hurt
His shout out loud, just some silent screams
And his groping hope, just these desperate dreams

And like unto the imprisoned dam
A pent up bursting, just clamped and hemmed
When the water's waiting to nurture
Is still waiting for an answer

Yet now he sees a questioning look
Beckoning, asking, seeing
When no one saw beyond his guise
She saw him see his first sunrise

"The bucket list?"
And what shall tell her of his bucket list?
This moment with her asking for his company
Let it never wither in his memory

But all things wither, fade and die
For the man who's always lived a lie
With the world moved on and her but gone
Alone again and again forlorn

Still a spark in memory lane
An unwalked road that's never again
A song unsung with the words he longed
And her blissful smile by the summer's breeze...
