Surprisingly little anxiety, but low self-esteem persists

Well, I had to take an exam today at the local community college, and while I mostly had little anxiety, which was a shock, I felt that the people I was forced to talk to didn't want to talk to me. When I was in the separate testing room, I could tell two women were laughing out in the other room, and when I went to ask if they could retrieve my phone (no, I didn't say it like that :p) the one girl at the counter seemed a little stand-offish, but went and fetched it for me. Also, I wasn't all smiles, either. When I go into any new situation, I try to come off as apathetic as possible.

Can anyone relate?

I'm consistently scared that people around me will see me in a negative way, even if they are total strangers... so I try to blend in without attracting any attention, in fear that someone will see me do or say something embarassing.. I just wish that I could be invisible.. so yeah, I guess that I can kinda relate...

Yeah, I guess it's difficult for me because I'm stand-offish with others, and I think in some ways this is why they are stand-offish to me. It's sometimes hard for me to untangle the two to see if there is an underlying reason aside from that.
