SP tips

Hey, i post this for rado31 who has left :( . He pm-ed these from some other support site, a google group i think, they seemed simple but good:

This isn't the answer to SP. The real answers already lie within
you, together with everything you need to act upon them. What
follows are a few simple pointers, direction indicators for those
who need them. This is by no means everything but it's a good
start:

1) Keep hope alive. Never give in to despair.

2) Success is good, but failure is ALWAYS an option. Without
failure we never learn how to succeed.

3) Nothing can beat perseverance. Persevere relentlessly and
eventual success becomes inevitable.

4) Be gentle on yourself. Don't push, but pull yourself through
this period of uncertainty.

5) Recovery is all about attitudes. What we cannot change we
*can* change our attitude towards.

6) Develop a sense of self-worth. You are just as important as
anyone else in this world and have already achieved more than
most in what you overcome just to get through each day.

7) Aim for small improvements that build on one another rather
than huge strides.

Anger, guilt and regret serve no useful purpose so challenge
these negative emotions with a positive response.

9) Don't seek perfection. Your flaws and imperfections are an
essential part of you.

10) There is *always* an upside to everything that happens
to us, even the worst things. Being able to focus on that helps
keep it all in perspective and achieve some sense of balance.

Somehow it seems like more of an optimism guide. Good points, but who here hasn't heard these many times before? I think I'm pretty well convinced that everybody needs to find their own cure in order to erase SP. And therefore, there will be some people here who never get over it, sadly, because of the choices they've made.

I agree that these are simple and we've all heard them before... But it's so easy to forget them. Thanks for posting these, flake. I've copied them down.

All good tips Flake, unfortunately sometimes it's easier to talk about them ,then put them in to practice but then that's half the battle.

Agreed. It's just so easy to forget simple concepts which themselves may not be life changing, but they can certainly help you on the way to recovery.

This is nothing to practice, just a general wisdom. It should be somehow incorporated in everyone, same as for example honesty and good manners, but it doesn´t solve social phobia. It just helps you to accept your fate better.
