Some symptoms of mine...could use some input

When I was a child:

-spun around in circles all the time
-bisected objects with my finger (kind of hard to explain)
-could only step on cracks with my right foot, and could only step on or off stairs with my right foot

What I do now(21 years old):

-twitch my nose every few seconds (the only one that is really uncontrollable)
-can't stay in one position when sitting in class...constantly bobbing my leg up and down, and alternating between biting my nails and cracking my fingers, going through this cycle for an entire class period
-have to make sure the doors are locked more than once and that i turn the oven off if i have used it
-constantly checking my pockets to make sure nothing has fallen out
-if i have placed something valuable somewhere, such as in my bedside drawer, i check it several times a day to make sure it is still there, even though I'm the only one here
-randomly straighten things out that don't look right to me
-the bone structure in my right pectorial is flatter than the one in my left, and it really, really bugs me
-i'm constantly touching my nose, mouth, eyes, or scratching something
-sometimes have to blink several times in a row
-i sleep on the very edge of a queen sized bed
-i have trouble sleeping in places other than my bed...when i was younger, instead of spending the night at a friend's house, i would usually wait until everyone was asleep and drive back home

These are a few symptoms, I know there's more I'm leaving out. I have never seen a psychologist or doctor about it. Anyone here with knowledge about OCD, I would really appreciate your input on whether I should get this checked out or not.

I forgot phones and clocks....I check my phone several times to make sure I have it on vibrate when in class. Every night, I probably check the clock 10 or 15 times to make sure the alarm is on and set to AM and not PM.

hmmm...well I have OCD. That doesn't make me an expert, but I'll give my advice:

If this is really affecting your life then yes, I think you should go see a doctor. But before you do, I would recommend doing some background research.

From what you wrote, your symptoms don't seem to be caused by intrusive thoughts, which is what OCD is. Maybe you just left that out I don't know but try looking up OCPD (obssessive-compulsive-personality-disorder) people often get the two mixed up but they are quite different. I don't know that much about OCPD but I do know that is has more to do with the compulsive actions (like what you wrote) rather than the obssessive thoughts.

If these actions that you describe are caused by anxiety over an intrusive thought that you can't get rid of then that is most likely OCD. If not, then it sounds to me like OCPD.

Now I could be completely off here, (and I'm sorry if I am) however, I do think you should get it checked out. I like to have background information before I do such things and I thought maybe you would too.

Hope that helped!
God bless!

To me, if you are AWARE, and if affects your life, then it is OCD.

Some of it, some people may have, and it is normal, but once if affects your functioning, as in day to day life, please see a Doctor. Take care.
