Social anxiety-my enemy

Hi,
I am in the entertainment business. Its my goal to make it. The problem is I have OCD/Social anxiety disorder that is stopping me from being successful. I worry so much about being judged that I am too reserved. When I was younger I never had any friends and never dated. Now I am tackling this monster(SA) head on and ending it. Any suggestions as to how I can end or control this anxiety. How can I be patient and improve myself so I can prove others wrong. I will not let this anxiety take my dream away.

What is it you want to do in the entertainment business??

Good on you for tackling s.a !! the best thing I am doing atm are positive affirmations, eliminating my negative self talk I am also on lexapro and I take fish oils and magnesium everyday also get enough sleep !

I am considering hypnosis also and of course always face social situations even if you are uncomfortable so exposure therapy!!

I am an awesome dancer but I was to shy to pursue it could have auditioned for so you think you can dance :-(

I volunteer for my sisters dance studio. Just recently we had a production we put on for hundreds of people. Though I'm backstage and backround helping with props and curtains. I was acknowledged twice to come out on stage after the show. I HATED IT! And didn't know what to do. Do I bow? I wasn't a performer. So I made some waving gesture and probably looked very obviously stagefright/ackward/uncomfortable. But I did it asforementioned to expose myself even though I hate the spotlight. You got to do what you don't want to sometimes I guess. Maybe over time you get used to it. Because of SA though, I hold myself back also. I love to just be silly and dance and be myself. I have the opportunities. But because of the possible negative evaluation of some haters out there I don't live my life to the fullest. If possible don't be like me. Good luck.

Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails had severe social anxiety disorder. Ricky Williams from the Miami Dolphins had it as well. Howie Mandel suffers from germaphobia and OCD. You see none of these people let their impairment stand in the way of their dreams. And it seems like you aren't letting it either. Good job, man. Btw when you get to the WWE can you do me a favor and punch Randy Orton in the face?? I never liked that guy LOL

At what moment does SA it kick in the most? If prior the match, you can do some relaxation excerices? My brother always watches thus mixed martial arts fights and it seems they always do some sort of mediation or relaxation exercises to calm down prior to the fight... the weird thing from watching them they almost have the same anxiety level as people with SA.... strange
