Therapy definitely helps. I haven't gone in a while, but it was especially helpful in the beginning. They teach you things about controlling the anxiety, allowing it to happen etc What my therapist keeps telling me is to "ride the wave" and "BLUSH." She said I have to blush and get it out of my system. So I tried it. I told myself to blush, and I couldn't blush, obviously because we can't blush on command. But in return what I found out was that if I welcomed it, it didn't come as frequently.
So to answer your question, yes therapy helps, I'd try it!
